Wheel advice

So I have a 2016 LE in black on order to be arriving, hopefully, this week sometime. While negotiating the deal I mentioned to the dealer that one of the things i disliked about the limited was the 20" wheels. He offered to swap them for a set of 17" wheels that he had from a tacoma and wrap them in BFG KO2's. This sealed the deal for me as it would save me having to buy new wheels and tires immediately.

The deal was signed, and then we found out the Tacoma wheels don't fit. The offset is wrong.

Dealer has shown me one or two other wheel choices, both of which I don't like. Now I'm faced with either sticking with the stock wheels, and maybe getting a set of KO2's for them. Or he's told me to have a look and see if I can find an aftermarket wheel I like and, based on price, he may be able to get it for me.

So now the pressure is on. Like I said to the dealer, it could take me weeks to settle on a wheel I like. I'm fairly particular about what I like. But I most likely only have a few days.

Can anyone suggest any reasonably priced aftermarket wheels that would look good on a Black LE? Or do you think I'm better off sticking with stock wheels, possibly getting some upgraded tires and looking at buying some 17's down the road when I can find something I really like?

I personally love the stock trail wheels and that's the way I'd go. plus they're 7.5" wide instead of 7" like the TRD wheels. I don't plan on ever changing my stock wheels until I break them or scratch them up too bad to look at. But you're asking, and that option probably would have been obvious, so I'm guessing you don't like those. For a black vehicle I think the gunmetal TRD PRO wheels look great too

The stock trail wheels were my first choice. Unfortunately list price on them is over $600 CAD per wheel.

Better to stick with stock wheels or find someone who willing to trade which is hard to do in BC

I would definitely ask for Trail or TRD wheels. They should be able to get both at reasonable cost since it's the dealer ordering them.

I have a '15 LE and just bought a set of Trail wheels off craigslist that a dude had. He bought the trail but while at the dealer, bought the TRD wheels and had them swapped out and he kept the Trail wheels...which are now mine.

The Toyota dealer in cochrane Alberta was able to get me rims from FN Wheels. My FX pro's were $250 cad a corner and delivered in 2 days. tacomatownonline

Will the dealer buy the limited wheels from you?

I'm really happy with the new Fuel D564 Beast wheels I just threw on the 4th Gen. They're 17x9 with a -12 Offset.

this combo is exactly what I'm going to get! How are the toyos on road noise? I'm debating on going with another set of cooper st maxx...

to OP, I'll have a set of trail wheels and cooper ST MAXX up for sale soon, just buy mine at a steal!

The limited wheels are pretty easy to unload State side. I'd Take the stock set up. buy some MB TKO's and what ever tire you want. You should be able to make of better in the long run. If you want trail wheels, check in the for sale sections here.

I just bought a 2016 Trail and will be looking to switch out the stock 17" rims.

I will be looking to sell them if you are willing to wait. I live in Vancouver.

I only got them up to about 40~50mph today and they were a bit louder than my old LT285/70R17 Nitto TerraGrapplers, but not too much louder (which were a little louder than the stock tires); there is a more noticeable "growl/grumble" to them than stock. But at that speed and my radio turned on to a reasonable amount I hardly noticed it, I imagine it's slightly more pronounced at freeway speed, but probably still not as loud as say the MTs. I will let you know if I hit the freeway later this week.

They are heavy though, that wheel/tire combo is in the 100~110lbs range I believe since the package weight was 550lbs for 5 wheel/tire combos and lugnuts; figure maybe 10~20lbs in packing and lug nuts, ect.

Nice. I kind of like the looks of those on black. What size is that tire?

I might be interested depending what happens in the next few days here. Any expected time line on switching out your rims?
