Wheel and Tire opinions and options..

Hey everyone, I am due wheels and tires by mid to late sept. Just wanted to see what everyone thinks, not that i'm actually going to listen :biggrin2: but just had some time on my hands...

1. Keep my SE wheels stock and buy some 255/75/17's

2. Powdercoat my stock wheels like Gaterose's

3. Find some 18" Limited wheels with either 255/70/18 or 265/65/18

4. 18" Mamba M7's with either 255/70/18 or 265/65/18

I think price will be pretty close to the same either way i go, maybe $100-$200 difference all around.

i found them on tirerack. Check out Mamba site they have all the info, I have yet to find actual pics of these on a vehicle.

Really leaning towards the Mamba's, just wondering what a 255/70 will look like on an 18x9. Unless Gator wants to sale his, which he has been talking about lol..

in my opinion i would go with the limited wheels not painted, i would be a little hesitant on how the paint would hold up in mud, trails, rocks, etc. If you do not do a lot of this then i would paint them, i had XD Monsters on my Z71 and i never went off road cause i was afraid it would scratch them

My vote is to keep the SE wheels and possibly plasti dip them. If you don't like them, just pull it off! I'm gonna give it a go and see how it looks. Good luck!

Assuming your truck is white I'd prefer the stock wheels. JMHO...

I have a set of SE's not powder coated but custom painted with a polished lip.

Might consider that as a option.

Also consider black chroming a set of SE, it looks bad a$$.

You can take off the logo on the center caps then paint or polish.

Actually it wasn't that simple... at least for me. The emblems are held onto the center cap by 3 very small plastic rivets which have to be cut/drilled to remove the emblem. I personally couldn't figure out an easy way to reattach the emblems once they were off so I ordered new emblems with adhesive backing, then painted those red and stuck em on.

The only good way to PC the center cap was to pull it apart, as it comes in 3 pieces: the plastic emblem, the aluminum outer face, and the plastic inner cap. The plastic pieces will (and did the first time around) melt and deform in the oven so that they won't fit back into the wheel. So I had to take the aluminum off just PC the Al, I painted the plastic backer piece black since you can barely see it once the Al cover is back on.
