Wheel Backspacing/etc. Will these work?

Losing my mind here.... "UNCLE!"

Ideally, I'd like to get rims that stick out about 1" further than my stock 17" SR5 wheels. I've read threads such as this: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/31395-backspace-offset-replace-1-25-wheel-spacers.html, but am confused..... Feel like I need to go get a math degree here...

Will these get me what I want our not?? I if not, anyone have any suggestions for some good looking wheels that do? I'm planning to just buy a package (wheels/tires) online with the TPMS already installed.

Need more info. A critical question is what size tire do you plan to run, and do you have any suspension modifications?

Hi, No worries, thinking about this makes many heads spin…

If your SR5 wheels are like my stock wheels (see my gallery), they have a +30mm offset (17x7.5 +30mm). Take one off and verify the size - it will be visible in the casting on the inside of the wheel.
The wheels you linked to specify a -6mm offset, so they will "move" outboard 36mm + 0.5 inches, or a total of 48.7mm. The 0.5 inch component is due to the new wheels being 1" wider, so half the increase in width will be in the outboard direction. Staying with a 265 tire will not contribute to offset compared to the stock (265) width.

I never liked the amount of positive spacing on the SR5, so I also upgraded to 17x7.5 +6mm TRD wheels. I went with 275 65 17 tires (rare size) so the treads ended up "moving" about 1 inch outboard, and aligned perfectly with the stock mud flaps (also in my gallery).

So for example, my math was:

30-6 = 24mm outboard due to change in offset. No change due to 7.5 (same) width. But my new tires are 10mm wider, so 5mm (split) in the outboard direction. So:
24 + 5 = 29mm difference in the outboard direction.

Yes - I finally understand! Thank you very much for spelling it out so clearly.

(I think a light bulb just actually lit over my head - lol.) Now I just need to pick the wheels, as I'm not sold on the ones in the above link yet.

haha - I might be coming off sounding like a Noob, but I'm really not. (I realize these might be "noob-ish" questions however, so I'm not the least bit offended).

I did answer that question above actually, in that I'm basically running a 2/1 lift. (2" Net lift up front, and 1" in the back + Air Lift 1,000 in the back).

I was planning on going 17" Rims with 265-70-17's, but now I'm starting to realize that I now have the option to buy the 18" rim and go with 265-65-18, or even 275-65-18 as some more common options. Thinking these should work with my modest lift?

I'm torn 1,000 different ways right now.. And don't want to blow the budget on it all. One thing is for certain, is that I am loving those "Level 8 Scorpion" wheels. And there are a couple different backspacing options with them/etc.
 
Alright... So the question now becomes whether or not a backspacing of 5.21" will work or not with my setup.

I actually might pull the trigger tomorrow on the following:

- 17"/9" rims with 18mm positive offset. (Which I believe equates to 5.21" of backspacing.)
- 265-70-17 tires.

Remember, I have a 2/1 lift as well. I "think" the above will work... However looking for confirmation. I also believe the above will give me around 1.22" wider stance over my current SR5 wheels when doing all the math.

Any issues with the above??

Thanks all!! They offer the same wheel and size with a 0 offset as well, but I believe that will make my stance go past the wheel wells.. And be "too much" in my opinion.
 
*Actually.. just did some research and realized I didn't add in that extra inch for calculating backspace before dividing by 2... Making the rims I mentioned most likely too large on the backspacing with the positive offset of 18mm on a 9" wide wheel... Is this correct?

The 0 offset seems like it would push my tires out to far with the 9"... Might be back to the drawing board and trying to find an 8" wide wheel instead.

Yeah... With more math, I believe the 9" wide wheel with 0 offset is actually going to push my wheels/tires out a whole 1.93" further out, which is too far. Looks life neither combo will work..?
 
So thanks to help on some other threads, I now have the backspacing/offset figured out. Just picking the wheels now! Rather than cluttering up others threads or starting new, I figured I'd ask here.

Thoughts on which is better looking? The Phantoms are brand new - thus I really can't find any actual mounted images of them..

Dude not to really blow it all up & not knowing your budget have you checked out 4wheel parts they are having a sale on their procomp stuff & there are quite a few that look like these & more , just saying ! I don't work for them just like their stuff .

On the second ones - right? If so, I think I agree. Sad thing is the first one only comes in 17x9 +12 offset, which will work, but isn't ideal like the sizes for the second. You might be taking about both though..

I'll keep looking and post ones I like here for opinions. Lol
