wheel backspacing

I am looking at some used wheels, and they have 4.75" backspacing, is this going to be to much?

Too much for what? What size tires are you running? Are you worried about looks or fitment?

I guess the question is will this much back spacing cause the tire to rub to much. I am looking at going with a 31" or 32" tire. I would prefer they not stick out much past fender

How wide are the rims? Stock 3rd gen rims are 16x7 and have a backspacing of about 4.625. If you stick with the 265 series tire then you should have no problems. They will possibly look a little more tucked in than stock, but likely not noticeable. If you move up to a 285 series tire then you will most likely rub on the upper a-arms and also on the frame at full-lock.

the rims are 15x8, I currently have on the stock 15" with 235x75x15s

Ok well if all you are worried about is fitment then just don't go over a 10.5" wide or 265 series tire and you will be fine. If you can find the same rim, or another that you like in 4-4.5" backspacing those will work down the road if you decide to go to a wider tire.

I have 4gen 4Runner running 285 on my stock 16x7 wheels.
I want steel wheels 16x8 on CRAGAR but only find 5" backspacing and +12.00mm offset.

Can I run those? it
