Wheel bearing help

Hi all,

I’m putting out a call to anyone in the Southern Maine / New Hampshire area that has the special tool to remove the rear bearing spacers.

I’m looking to save some money, but will rent the tool to make it worth it.

I remember there was a tool loaning thing on here, that was started by a member.
I think the tool broke, got fixed by warranty.
Then the thread died.

This is one of the reasons I don't lend out tools. I am hoping someone in New England can help this member out..

I know. Especially like that bearing tool. Expensive and not readily available locally if the tool becomes inoperatable or missing.

Borrowing tools at the pick and pulls just irks me. I loaned once, to help out, and they disapered with it. No more! Good thing i only take cheap Huskys to pick and pulls.
Besides, what kind of person goes there without easy to carry basic tools?

How you handle those are you go remove what they are after so you don't lose your tools as well.

I tell them (along the lines), people before them ruined my faith in lending out tools.

If they push it I just tell them "who comes here looking for parts without tools to remove said parts"?

Now, if they're cool, or the target car is very near, I might reconsider. You can pretty much tell from their approach and personality.
Even though i got burnt, I still like to believe there are people out there, that are still nice overall.

For the poster, have you asked a machine shop for a quote to press the retainer rings and bearings in for you? My local NAPA shop has a machine shop in the back and his prices are reasonable so I just bring my axle to him with the specs and parts. I don't have room for a press nor do I care to get one and I rarely need parts pressed in or out.

Yes. We have to be kind. This is why mostly 2 or 3 of us goto the yard at the same time. So I can have someone always watching the tools while being good to they neighbor.
