Long story short...I need a new wheel bearing/hub assembly kit. For years I’ve seen the guy on here selling the kits, and now that I’m looking to buy, I see he’s been banned. Not needing to know details, but would like to know where the best deals are on replacements. About every search comes back to the banned member. Thanks.


Just came across Marion’s kits. Is this going to be the best quality kit?

I believe you’re correct, but I wonder why the mods didn’t just give him a warning like “pay up, or you’re gone!” Seems like he was certainly selling enough product to justify a paid membership.

I couldn't say, maybe they did and he didn't want to pay, only he and the Moderators know why he was banned.

I do know he only did the hubs as a side line, he has/had a day job, not sure if it's still the same with him though.
 
Just a fair warning for everyone, the Jersey hubs guy took nearly a month and me having to hound his ass the entire time to finally ship me my hub. His never ending excuse was him saying that this is his hobby. So, I'm never buying again from him. Just a heads up for any of you members here that doesn't need the headache.
 
If you know someone with a press this is super-easy to do yourself. I had 3 second gen tacomas and I've done this job at least a half dozen times. Buy a hub, BOTH seals, and a quality bearing on ebay or rockauto and get the bolts from toyota. Install the outer dust seal, drop the bolts in the holes and press the hub into the bearing. When you change it absolutely change the inner seal on the back of the knuckle. Every one I have changed that is smoked and I think it's one of the big reasons why they go bad. It's sure nice to just take a hub out of the box and install it but it's not that big a deal to put one together either. Before there were aftermarket hubs available I used to press the old hubs out of the bearings and reuse them. That was a bit trickier. I wouldn't stress a ton about the brand of the bearing really either. I put a $25 china bearing on one of mine and ran it for 75k miles. No problem. All the others were SKF I recall.
 
the marion b2b assemblies are incredible. very nicely made with quality parts, but the dude is a HORRIBLE communicator and will take more than a month to send your shit when he quotes 7-10 days. if you don't mind waiting a while for a quality product, i'd go with those. it took me some pestering to finally get it. dude just lags hard.

Same here. Took forever which was fine I wasn't in a rush. Order them well in advance before you need them.
 
yup. also, expect "excuses excuses" from the guy during multiple email exchanges asking where the fuxk your bearing is. you'll get it. eventually.
 
Since I need to replace one of my dust shields that was badly rusted anyway, I plan to just buy the Koyo bearings, and new seals, then press out the hubs and reuse them. I don’t see the need to buy new hubs unless yours are messed up, or you don’t have a press to changes on the spot. The main reason I plan to reuse my hubs is because the studs are too short for my new wheels, so I plan to also press in longer studs while they are apart. The lugs only grab about 1/2” of threads, so for safety reasons, I’d feel better if the lugs had full thread engagement.

Well it seems both guys aren’t going to work for me. I just took apart the brakes to expose the hub. The hub is wobbly which is causing my brake issue. The caliper isn’t sitting even on the rotor which is causing the rotor and caliper to make contact. The top 1/2” of my rotor is getting ate up. I need to fix this now.

Go on Tacoma World forum and see if he can help you out, he seems to keep a few set of hubs assemblies on hand to be able to ship them out quickly, so you should be able to get them within a matter of a few days.

When I need bearings I will be getting them from him.

If you can't wait try checking with NAPA I have read on the forum where a member mentioned that they sell a few different levels of hub/bearing assemblies, from OK to good quailty.

You are correct, Napa even carries the Koyo ones, as well as the hubs, but not assembled. That’s where I will be getting my bearings.

Since I plan to reuse my stock hubs (who knows if they’ve been changed at some point though?), I would probably need the ones that have the 14.3mm knurl like you first ordered. I haven’t done a conversion to mm yet, but do you happen to remember the length of the stock ones? I figure, I need at least 3/4”-1” longer than stock, and since the spline drive lugs are open ended, the actual length isn’t that critical as long as I get full engagement on the nuts. I haven’t done it yet, but I was hoping to just source longer studs at Napa when I order the bearings. If I knew the exact dimensions though, I might be better off since they usually just look stuff up by application (which will just show stock length). Really kicking myself for not hammering one out to measure now! I wasn’t aware that the Dorman hubs used a different diameter, and if mine have already been swapped at some point, I’d be screwed by buying stock diameter. Thoughts?
 
[MENTION=209958]Terminator03[/MENTION] Unfortunately I'm at work and can't source the oem length right now, sorry bro. The hub/bearing assemblies I purchased were from bumper to bumper. He may have found a different Dorman part number that works on the T4R, resulting in the different knurl diameter.I know I used Dormans website to compare diameters and lengths. It was kind of a pain. Sorry not much help. This crap set me back a couple days, so I wanted to make you guys aware.
