wheel opinion please - Sport vs. black 5 star

Wanted some opinions on whether to leave as is or mount the flat black textured (powdercoat like) 5 star wheels for my '02 Sport.

5-stars are my favorite wheel for the 3rd gen, so that's the route I would go.

I think the ideal setup would have been the 5 stars, but in the factory finish.

Between the two existing choices, I'd have to go w/the black 5 stars. Very nice 4Runner by the way. I really like that color, especially on a SE.

I don't really dig your stock sport wheels at all.

Wasn't real happy with the stock wheels either but still in great shape. Was already leaning toward the black 5 stars as well since plasti-dipped the front & rear emblems and rear spoiler and repainted rear bumper insert, skid plate, and the sport hood scoop flat black. I really like that red and black combination. Will post another pic after mounted, before & after.

I like your seat covers. Where did you get them and how much $?

I like the Sport Wheels but I would go a dark metallic charcoal like the Lexus IS models.

Thanks...they're Wet Okoles, a bit pricey (around $280, includes $40 for logo) as I learned from other members but I wanted thicker neoprene to hold up to wearing wet fishing waders at times. They're well worth it in my mind...look great & provide extra cushioning too.
Let me know if you want some pics of their 2 (light grey & charcoal) color swatches against my interior I took before I placed the order and I'll post them here.

I agree, go with the black 5 stars. Those Wet Okoles seat covers are beautiful! I've wanted a set for a long time just haven't been able to justify the cost on them... Maybe one day. Lookin' good man!

thanks, I have never seen the lettering. I am a saltwater fisherman so I can definitely justify them. Sorry for the hijack.

thanks...here's some pics of the 2 Wet Okole color swatches I asked them to send me for my gray/charcoal colored interior and light gray sport seats.
#11 is charcoal and #21 is light gray from their website.

My opinion, and the pics help, is that #21 matches the sport seat fabric pretty well and #11 is pretty close to some of the interior plastic trim. I ordered #11 with black sides/bolsters since I didn't want the dirt to show as much and it matched some of the interior trim pretty well.

The pic of them installed directly in the sun is a bit misleading as the charcoal color looks much more blueish/gray and doesn't appear to match the center console very well, but the pic of the drivers entry looks much closer.
The last closeup pic is very misleading so I would ignore it (camera flash makes #11 look almost black and makes #21 look a bit like #11 in the other pics.)

Thanks all for your input. Here's a before/after pic...really like the simple flat black/red combo.
I know it's not the classified section but pm me if interested in the Sport wheels & lug nuts, I'm in Boise. They're in decent shape with a few nicks/scratches mostly at the edges, asking $275.

To gloss or not to gloss, that is the question.

I have to say that with that beautiful gloss red paint, gloss black would compliment a lot better than flat black rims.

I also love the five stars, the black and red combination is cool. I have them on my second runner. It is black and I painted the 5 stars gloss black and the toyota logo in the middle red. I thought that might set off the wheels if you painted the logo to match your red. My 2 cents

Brian/Talltoys, agree gloss black would probably compliment better as I considered it before painting flat, your pics are awesome. I guess since my hood scoop and skid plate are flat black I figured just do same for the wheels. Who knows, maybe I'll change it up later or just paint the center cap logos sunfire red.
Next projects are Tundra brake upgrade and a projector retrofit.
I've seen plenty of threads out there on the retrofit, including yours Brian, so I'm sure I'll have some questions. Thanks.

Satin Black is a good compromise. SEM Trim Satin Black is about $14 a can but very good paint.
