Wheel Pitting???

37,500 on the clock for my Dad's 06 GX. It's a garage queen for the summer when him and my Mom primarily drive the SC430, but when I took it in for the "clunk" TSB yesterday I noticed the pitting. The service advisor suggested taking pics (which I attached here) and emailing them direct to Lexus. Sorry for the large pic.

Anyone else have this problem?

I don't have this problem and have 110K+ on mine. He just needs to keep it clean and detailed, as this has happened to my past cars as well.

Current Tacoma & 4th Generation 4Runner wheels are made horribly

Lots and lots of Threads talking about them rusting, pitting & peeling

Uneek brought his 2005 Tacoma to the Dealership, hoping they would replace the wheels. The Dealer told him to take a hike.

Best option is to Powdercoat them

Expect $100/wheel

A common problem with recent Toyota wheels.

Toyota Alloy Wheels Bubbling

It has nothing to do with detailing or taking care of them. The quality and finish of recent Toyota rims are terrible. I have the same problem with my rims at 40k. It's garaged and I use WheelWax with them.

Quite simply, Toyota has quality issues whether it's in-house or from suppliers.

I bought my Toyota under the assumption it was a quality made vehicle, and would last me a long long time, the more I read, the more I hear about rust on everything. so the engine should outlast the body by all accounts? super!

i am a victim of the rust issue, as its on my gx460! Dont know what to do and i will put up a fuss with lexus. Is this the "pursuit of perfection"?

4runner owners here have been less than responsive to my inquiry in the 5th gen thread about axle rust in rear. this is an issue toyota needs to fix

Honestly, that's nothing. Give it a few years and the entire bottom will look like that.

I'll get a few pics of what it looks like under my 6 yr old Taco.

Was able to get a $900 credit from Lexus to have the wheels repainted.

Its a common issue on the toyota wheels. I had my wheels replaced for free by the dealer. When I dropped my suv off at the dealership, after a few hours later they called and said they need to reschedule again. Apparently the new wheels that were sitting in a box in a warehouse somewhere pitted so they had to order a new set. I got a free IS250 as a rental for the day so it wasn't a big deal.
