Wheel spacers or no? Without flares

Hey guys,

I came across someone local selling a set of spidertrax 1.25" spacers and I'm debating if I should get them or not for my 4runner. Only problem I see is mine is is sr5 without the bigger fender flares. This is how my set up is right now with 265/75/16

What do you think think? It's pretty flush with the fenders right now but I haven't seen many pictures with the 3rd Gen 4runners with spacers and no flares

Once you get 285s it'll stick out more then the spacers will add more. If you are gonna lift it I would imagine it's fine but being that low it'd be odd

I don't really plan on lifting the truck or adding any bigger tires really. I already went from 265/70 to 265/75 and the truck will probably just see some light offroading. Guess I should skip the spacers!

You might rub the pinch weld at full lock. Good decision to save the money.

If you aren't lifting and putting on 285's definitely skip the spacers, waste of money and time. I only put them on because my 285s rubbed the control arms on full lock steering on flat ground. One thing I did like about it was when I lifted my truck I took off all the sway bars. I drove it for a couple weeks with no sway bars, the lift, and 265's. It became a lot more stable when I made it wider, although it still doesn't quite handle like an Audi

Personally I think it looks good just the way it is. I'm running spacers but I have a limited. The 285's on stock rims looked funny sucked under the truck, spacers made them even on mine. If I were you, i'd save the money.

I still don't understand how some people can put 285's on without rubbing with stock wheels and no wheel spacers. Mine were terrible. I would have killed my brand new k02's just doing street driving, let alone the wheeling I do.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Awesome thing about this forum is that it's so active and you guys follow up so quickly.

I'll save the money, I've been focusing on maintenance stuff including new rear axle seals with wheel bearing and lower ball joints on the way. Thinking about doing the external tranny cooler as well

I've got Camburg arms on mine, never even tried it with the stock arms.

Nice. I've looked into the SPC arms a bit, it seems aftermarket arms would help. I'm still leaning towards a solid axle myself but I've been pushing my rig pretty hard lately so it may be worth it in the end.

Hope this helps you here my 98 with:
Eibach/Lc 8 Wrap Lift
265 75 16 on 16x8 with 0 offset (same as 4.5" backspace)
Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers
1st and 3rd photos are before spacers
2nd and 4th photos are after
To me it looks way better with the spacers than without and I have no rubbing before or after the spacers
Bigger tires will come once I figure out if I wanna keep these wheels and powder coat them white or get a set of 7 spoke trail wheels

With my wheels before the lift I could not have fit them with the spacers as I would already just kiss the pinch weld at full lock and hitting a bump without them

Wheel poke makes them look amazing, so long as your local regulations allow it. Around here you're not supposed to but people try it anyways.
