Wheel speed sensor/wheel speed sensor harness replacement

My traction control, ABS, antiskid and VSC lights have been on for some time now and I finally decided to get the situation looked at by a dealership. I got glowing recommendations for the dealership across the street from my house so I decided to give them a chance despite being a GM dealership.

They diagnosed a faulty wheel speed sensor. Said it was not giving any kind of electrical signal and replaced it. $350 later that didn't fix the problem. They said they didn't have a Toyota scan tool to do further diagnostics but were 80% sure it was the ABS module but couldn't be 100% certain. We worked out solution for them to take the 4runner to the Toyota dealership and have them diagnose it. The Toyota dealership said it's a faulty wheel speed sensor harness. $450 to replace it. That's happening on Friday.

My question is does this stuff sound reasonable? Also, could the faulty harness have led the original dealership to think it was the sensor that was bad and to needlessly replace it or would their diagnostic have not been affected by the faulty harness? Ugh. I hate dealerships.

The boozer mechanic that replaced my front shocks 5 years ago did not unhook the speed sensors before lowering the suspension (LCA's). Very common to stretch the "harness" causing it to open circuit - its just a cable with a pair of wires.

Replaced both of them myself, splicing in a long computer keyboard extension cable. All good still.

Oh, and the speed sensor can be tested right at the sensor. In fact that's the only reliable way and excludes the long wire. What are they, $120 at Rockauto?
