Wheel Squeak until brakes are applied

Sorry for the late response guys. I went to my local mechanics today in the morning and got my pins lubricated and it seemed to quieten down the noise but now its back . Seems like I will change my caliper next and see how that goes.
Will provide an update after some time. And thank you everybody for the replies

Any update on replacing the caliper? I have the same issue with my brakes and squeal. I just replaced the pads and rotors, and I found the back piston was very hard to move.

Extremely Sorry for not checking my notifications. Yes I went ahead and changed my caliper with NAPA. the noise is gone for now. Hope that helps

I'll add in a different culprit to a brake-associated squeak ... the brake dust shield.

I had new pads and rotors put on the rear last week by a reputable shop. The next day when I was driving with the windows down I could hear a constant squeal when moving (passenger side), which would disappear when the brakes were applied.

Turns out it was the old, rusty brake dust shield. The shop ground it down a little, and no more noise.

did any of you guys with this problem notice the sound when the truck/brakes were cool? I have the same squeaking, that is pretty load and embarrassing, that will stop with slight brake pressure. It only happens when the truck hasn't been driven for a bit. After everything is warmed up, the noise goes away.

Hmm...Mine is just the opposite. They are quiet when cool and start to squeal after warming up. Both rear wheels are doing this and it's quite loud now. I had already replaced both rear pads and rotors. It was good for a week and then it came back. My mechanic told me the calipers were shot and replaced them both with loaded calipers. It was good for another week or so and then it came back. I'm inclined to believe that it is the pads. I'm sure those loaded calipers did not come with the best pads and I think they were installed without anti-squeal paste on them. If I get adventurous today, I will tear into the rear wheels and have a look at those pads. I've seen other repair sites that say putting a 45 degree chamfer on the edges of the pad helps with this issue as well.

Hi Extremely Sorry to revive this old thread but I read your problem and it is exactly the same as mine right now. I just bought my 2007 4Runner with 100k miles on it. The brakes and rotors were replaced last week by the seller from Toyota. But now I hear the same squeeky sound coming when driving at low speed in the city. It goes away when I apply the brakes. I really need help to isolate this problem because it is extremely annoying. Thank you

I'm looking through old threads to find tips on my squeaking too. I'm thinking it's a caliper that's holding the brake ever so lightly on the rotor. Did you figure yours out? What was it?

My problem was solved by replacing the caliper. One of the pistons was sticking and not retracting properly causing it to push the brake pad into the rotor.

having a problem like this as well on my passenger side. although i can recreate the noise by springing the shock. ive looked at my CV and no leaks everything is intact. i recently had to slam on my breaks and since then i have noticed the noise anytime i hit a bump in the road. the breaks have been more sticky since having to slam on the breaks as well. wondering if its the brake shield or if slamming the brakes on screwed up the rotor? thoughts?

check the clip spring that spread apart the brake pads, thats waht usually causes the squeak, if it wasnt installed..the shud be 2 on each wheel

Just throwing it out there, but I had a squeak between 2 and 40 mph on the driver side front I'd been chasing for about 3 weeks. Thought it was just ditry brakes from off roading. Then, I discovered a slightly binding wheel hearing on that driver side front wheel over the weekend while installing bilsteins. Even with the oad, caliper and rotor removed, slowly turning the hub, I could hear a squeak. So I replaced it yesterday (shipping), and presto! No more noise. So, my 2 cents, if you can NOT find anything wrong with your assemblies, and people are telling you it's just the pads, maybe check your wheel hubs out.

I've had this from one front wheel for a month or so. Not exactly like your problem, only squeeked when brakes lightly applied.

Inspected the pads, all OK 70% pad material is left.

Decided to do a bed-in procedure: heat 'em up good, don't stop with pads pressing the disks while they are hot. 5 minute process on a lonely road. All OK now still 60 days later.
