Hello. Quick question for you gurus here. I’m looking into purchasing a used set of 17” wheels off of a 5th gen for my stock height 2002 2WD 4Runner. I’m planning on also doing the Tundra brakes upgrade at around the same time frame if/when I purchase the wheels depending on the answers I receive here.
First question is which tire size should I use? I have the stock 15” wheels on some BFG KOs 31x10.5 R15. I think the closest wheel size to the ones I currently have on right now would be the 265/70R17 for the 17” wheels and am looking to replace them with the Falken Wildpeaks AT3S or the Rubitrek AT if my America’s Tire store can order them.
From reading some of the posts concerning going up in tire size, some people have said they’ve had some rubbing issues using the 265/70 tires while some users have said they’ve had no issues with rubbing. Would I have to do any other type of modifications for the wheels and tires to fit?
As for my last question, it’s concerning the spare tire. Right now I currently have the stock 15” spare tire tucked underneath the vehicle. Would a 17” tire fit underneath there or would a 16” tire be the biggest wheel I could fit in the undercarriage? My vehicle doesn’t have the tow package either.
Thanks for all your help
