Wheel well fender came off - how to get another

First, the photo. That's my rig parked next to BigRogers awesome 4Runner:



Notice above my rear tire, there's a body part missing. So Brian (BigRogers) was leading a group of newer off-roaders on an "easy" set of trails. I was tailgunner. Figured it was safe to go shoot photos and let my 16 yr-old drive, because it was, afterall, the easy trail group. Only about 30 seconds after I run off to shoot photos, I hear a loud pop. He took a turn too tight and off came the panel/fender.

Any idea where I can go to find a replacement? Or is there a surefire way to put the old one back on despite all of the bracket thingies being popped off?

Rockauto, Junkyard or eBay, then toyotapartszone... or a local dealer as a last resort.

You're gonna have to have it painted from anywhere but the junkyard.

As dirty as your truck stays I'm sure you could get away with painting it yourself with Automotive Touch Up (ATU) paint. Their stuff matches OEM really well in my experience and reviews I've read.

Otherwise my understanding is that body shops charge an arm and a leg no matter what.

I've never seen how the flare attaches, if you posted pics I might be able to advise about reattaching but otherwise I'm clueless there.

One more thing, Bushwacker has been talking about making fender flares for the 4th gen runners. It would be a great idea to post that pic (or an action shot with it missing) on their facebook page as far as keeping the ball rolling on moving the flares forward!!

... Maybe a comment like "we need those 4th gen flares, STAT!"

You can get the little red and blue clips off eBay or from an auto parts store. Then you should be able to put the clips in the panel and pop it back on. Shouldn't take any longer than 20 minutes.

The tabs ripped off the fender, so there's no way of using additional tabs. Guess I could try Velcro.

Ahh I see, I've only used their rattle can stuff but I saw good reviews on taco world for some others.

I'm not sure if you've seen it, but there is a thread on here about interest in bushwacker fender flares. Doug, A10MileHusker, is pretty close to them and has them on the fence about 4th gen flares. They have told several members to keep sending emails and facebook stuff, they're keeping up with it and it was becoming a thing.

According to the last update they have been telling people who email that something is planned for getting them on the design table in early 2013... So like I said your photo might get us an update or at least put it back in their minds.

Judging from the pic you might get those back on by removing the pieces and reattaching with some JB weld or maybe plastic weld but not sure how it'd hold up.

Not enough surface on the brackets for JB Weld to hold. Now if I use Velcro and JB Weld, I might be okay. I'll just need to maintain speeds below 100 mph.

Just looked this up at carson toyota painted your blue 127.& change clips 2 something cheaper on ebay . So maybe check it out but you gotta junkyards or recycled stuff there ?

ahhh I see yeah that changes things. Hmm Harbor Freight sells a plastic welding kit that might be worth a try. 3M tape might hold it on there if you could get enough surface area. Hope you get it sorted out.

Oh and I liked your post on FB. My only thing with BushWackers is the fact that they put those ugly fake bolts all over their fenders. I'd like to see a simple pocket fender that allowed for improved tire clearance. Guess we'll see what happens...which will probably be nothing.
