Wheeler's T-12 & New T-13 Rear Lift Coils!

Hoping there is someone who can help me decide between the Wheelers T13 and Toytec Superflex. I have found zero comparisons between the two other than spec numbers.

I have both sitting in my garage and I can't decide which route to go.

Rig goes off-road for camping trips but not a heavy wheeler any longer. Trips are longer so fairly heavy packed and will be throwing airbags in the springs.

FWIW I installed the T13 along with some King 2.5 shocks. After 700 miles I only got 1in of lift... a little disappointed.

my t13's run about 1" of lift as well. which IMO is perfect. the front kings are only set for around 2.5" of lift. which leaves plenty of droop travel.

t13's definitely sag quick, i swap them out for HD springs for long trips with lots of camping crap.

I had the T-13s installed on my limited and only got .5-.75” of lift. I don’t have any armor or extra weight. Wheelers said it may be due to the third row seating and sent me T-12s to swap. I’m not sure if the T-13s had an issue, but the T-12s gave me almost 2.5” of lift. Paired with my front lift of 2.5” (6112s on clips 6&7), it looks like I’ve maintained factory rake. Originally I was hoping for a leveled look, but I don’t mind the way this current setup looks and drives.

I got my lift installed last week and finally had some time to post some pictures.

Front: ToyTec Ultimate coilovers with Bilstein 5100s (set at 0). The ToyTec coilovers are adjustable from 1"-3". I have them set at 2". I really wanted 1.75", but the shop said they couldn't get them dailed-down any further. This is a bit disconcerting.

Rear: Wheeler's T13 coils with Bilstein 5100s with OME 10mm trim packer installed on driver's side coil to help with lean. I was hoping to get 1.25"-1.5" from these coils. In reality I got 1.75" the day I picked it up from the shop. I loaded up 3 of my buddies and took it off-roading to help the coils "settle". I am now right at 1.5" lift (maybe 1.6" if I'm being picky).

I got my FN Fx Pro wheels in the mail the same day I did the lift. I put on some 265/75/15-C BFG KO2s. I did have some rubbing in reverse at full turn to the right. I had to trim a small section of the fender/bumper (the MGM part, not the black fender liner).

I really liked the way the stock version drove, but I really, really, really like the way it drives now. There is a little nose-dive when braking really hard (imagine person in front of you slams on brakes for apparently no reason). Under normal braking, I don't notice any nose-dive. When turning, I don't feel nearly as much lean. The ride is 17.352% stiffer than stock. I wavered between 275s and 265s for a long time and ultimately went with 265s because I didn't want to kill my gas mileage or acceleration. I lost 0.4 MPG on a 2.5 hour highway drive (cruise control set at 80 MPH most of the time). I was worried about road noise from the KO2s vs the stock tires. The decibel meter on my iphone says it's 3 dB louder with the KO2s. Acceleration still feels fine. Off-road, the truck feels great, too. I don't feel like the shocks are bottoming- or topping-out and there's plenty of flex.

Overall, I got more lift than I really wanted. My old 4Runner had a 3" front, 2" rear lift and my wife made me sell it because she was tired of climbing in and jumping out. I thought I could pull a fast one on her by installing a very mild lift of 1.75" front, 1.25" rear... but that didn't work. She noticed the difference but has conceded that it's not that bad. I like the way it looks, although some may argue that the wheel wells look a little empty with the 265s (vs 275s).

I am glad I stumbled on your post.. I am currently over researching lifts for my Pro.. I am at 35000 miles and looking to replace the stock Nittos. I Ould like to go larger but I am scared to take the mpg hit from 285s, I am thinking 255/75 is a sweet tire; 32" 10"w and 46lbs!

Like you I want a mild lift, maybe +1" (on a pro it would be more like +2 on other models) and a less than 1.5" in the rear.

I want to try to use factory UCAs for reliability. I would also like a stiffer spring in the rear for increased load capacity. I don't haul any thought heavy, but when I vacation I am loaded down pretty good. I use a rear hitch platform and it works like a cantilever and really makes the rear squat. I have AirLift bags now that help greatly. Ill probably still use them on my newt set up just for the added support. I am thinking with a stiffer spring I wouldn't need to pump them up as firm, might help the overall ride quality.

what are your thoughts?

I love the Wheelers t13 rear springs. they handle a little bit better weight than the stock ones, and the daily ride is fantastic, IMO it's the perfect amount of spring rate increase.

This thread has been a wealth of knowledge, looks like I'll be ordering my T1/T13 and OME 10mm packer for the left rear. Been running my 5100's at 2.5" with a Daystar 1.5" spacer in the rear for the past year.
