Wheels 17x9 -12 Photos Please :)

Good day all and greetings from Onatrio ,

just about ready to pull the trigger on a 17x9 wheel with a -12 offset and wrapped in 275 70 17 just need some more encouragement

photos of that size would be much appreciated
please list the wheel you use , offset and tire size....

and from your experience the pros & cons

also is an alignment needed when changing to this size wheel from a stock trail edition 17x7.5 wheel with 265 70 17

Anytime you drop $1k+ on new rubber you need to get an alignment. It doesn't matter what size you are going to or from. Even with no change in size at all.

For the money you are protecting your investment in the rubber from premature uneven wear.

currently the truck has the 265 70 17 tires on the stock Trail Edition wheels
I just had a ProComp level kit 3"/2" installed yesterday and the truck had an alignment done after the suspension work ,
so it just had an alignment
if I choose to keep the same wheels and go to a 275 70 17 bfg ko2 , will the truck need to have another alignment done again ?

No alignment need if just changing wheels and tires, but I always recommend having it checked a few times a year.

Ah, more to the story, Thanks for the update. Knowing this, if you just had it done after the lift, then no I wouldn't do it again as long it's pretty soon afterwards. However if you wait a year or even 6 months, I would do it again. If it's only been a month or so, you should be good to go.

Just from my experience. A 9" wheel can be problematic if you plan to offroad it...

8" wide with 0 offset is the best bet for not worrying about a body mount chop. You can probably go 8" -10 also.

There are so many variables though.. If you stick with a small tire it could probably work with a 9".

I would do an alignment after changing wheels and tires myself. It changes how the tires are weighted a bit and is worth not screwing up new tires. I'm always surprised that people think alignments are not needed. when those same people will tell you it is important to have correct tire pressure when doing an alignment. When tires shape changes an alignment is needed in my opinion. Just get a lifetime alignment as you are going to need it with these trucks if you do any offroading.

I trimmed the front fenders about 1/4” and removed the mud flaps. No rubbing now even with hitting some good trails and hill climbs.

I was super lucky with my set up: 285/70s on 17x8.5 (-6 offset). The tire literally kisses the body mount when turning. I had to do lots of plastic trimming, but no need of BMC at all. I have an OME 3” lift. Do the math with the wheels and tires you want to use... I don’t think you can go with any set up that puts the wheels further outwards than mine without materially rubbing the body mount. If plan to use 9” wheels, make sure the offset is less aggressive (i.e. more positive) than mine. My tires are Nitto Ridge Grapplers btw.

I decided to keep the stock TEP wheels because they are f-ing beauties 17x7.5" +15 OS , Just wrapped em with 275 70 17 BFG KO2s and they get that nice bubbly look to them over the wheel now I just need to push em outward to the body fender flare line or just slightly past with a quality spacer maybe 1.25" a SpiderTrax or.....? any recommendations or thoughts
currently I have no rub or scrub issues with the 275s of the stock wheel and a procomp 3" level

Yellow....I am running the 1.25 spacer under my 17x9 Mambas and just trimmed the rear liner and mudflap mounts while keeping the flaps.
