Wheels Spacer Vs Adapters Vs Shaving Caliper?

I just ordered a set of series 51 wheels from Pro Comp, and I'm now reading people saying that they rub the calipers/are very close to rubbing.

I was considering getting just a set of 1/4" spacers, but have read people saying the adapter style are better quality. Is this still the case if I got just a 1/4" spacer vs a 1" adapter?

Would it be a better or worse option to shave the caliper?
