When did 17" wheels become standard?

Yes, I did a search. :

Shopping around now, just want to make sure whatever I find has 16's rather than 17s. Last time I was shopping for a 4runner I was looking at 4th gens and it seemed like a lot of them/most of them had 17s, which I don't want.

Were there certain trim levels that always came with 17s, like the limited or the Sport? Or was there a certain year when all 4runners got 17's instead of 16's?

FWIW I am most likely looking at getting a 2005 - 2007 SR5 4x4 V6. Non-limited, non-SR5 and non-Sunroof.

The Sport and Limited had them as far back as 2003. I think on the SR5, they were always optional. Below is a link for a great site about all gen 4Runners with history, specs, ect.

Im guessing the reason for the 17" is due to the bigger brake rotor.

The SR5 was the only model that you could get 16" wheels. Only the sports had the larger rotors.

What do you mean by a "2005 - 2007 SR5 4x4 V6. Non-limited, non-SR5 and non-Sunroof"? Did you mean "non-sport"? and 05-07 SR5 shouldn't be that hard to find.
