When I rev to redline the car shuts off. Help!

I've never hit the rev limiter in my 4Runner but I know the result isn't the engine shutting off. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Think about it. 19 year old takes his Dad's 4Runner out to state 101, pegs it, engine cuts out on a curve, dumbass hits a bridge embankment doing 100 because the power steering/brakes shut off with no motor. Sorry, no manufacturer is that stupid.

Every rev limiter I've ever heard of, and I've been around bikes and cars a long time, either cuts out the ignition (sounds like the engine is misfiring) or cuts the fuel pressure (on fuel injected vehicles).

Either method the engine stays running. :wtf:

Yes the engine cutting off is not the rev limiter its it probably not being able to keep up with the rpm's from being plugged up and grandpa'ed its whole life. A When my dads shut down I knew that's exactly what it was and I was right the plugs were fouled. New plugs its runs stronger than ever.

I have never hit the "rev limiter" in my T4R, but I did hit a speed limiter in a older model Chevy PU, all it did was quit accelerating!!
