Alright guys, so I finally got around to saving some cash for some accessories for my runner. I'm going to purchase an ARB bumper and m8000 winch along with a tundra bilstien front lift with either 7wraps or ome rear springs.

Question, with it being so close to Christmas and all do you think I'll make a substantial savings if I wait for some sales or just go ahead and bite the bullet?

Also, what's the opinion on weight up front? Will the combo be too much for the tundra springs? Or just right? (Steel winch line)

I'd wait. There are usually sales around the big holidays like Xmas. I waited for holidays for more of my mods and saved a good amount. Not sure if ARB does sales themselves, but a vendor who sells their stuff might (i.e. Toytec). If you're gonna buy through Toytec, do a search on here for their coupon code. I think it's like 10% or 15% off.

As far as weight up front, the Tundra coils should be fine and with the Bilsteins you can adjust height settings. At least that's what I gathered in my research.

Waiting might get you a better deal, but it might not. You will have to keep any eye on discount codes offered from the stores you're planning on purchasing from.

Weight up front shouldn't be too big an issue on those springs. You might need to change the perch on your front struts, but that all depends on how you want the truck to sit. The bigger concern I see with weight on the front end is the stress it puts on the stock IFS components, specifically ball joints.

That said, it's something that should be on your watch list for the truck anyway, so stay ahead of the ball joints and you shouldn't have any issues.

I guess I waited this long what's a few more months going to do?

My plan is to set the tundra fronts on the second perch and expect to have around a 1 inch rake. As far as who I buy from it might just be Wheelers simply because I can drive down and get everything if the shipping proves to be too much.

Although amazon has the ARB for 877 and free shipping.....so ....damn decision!!

I'm excited as all hell to be finally able to get some fun stuff.

I've spent the last two years pretty much doing maintenance. Bringing everything up to date and have oem lbj on the shelf ready to put on when the suspension upgrade is made. Only thing I've yet to do that's major is the steering rack it's still tight but leaks very little about a fluid ounce every six months....
 
I'd check Amazon for the winch. I bought my M8000 a couple of years ago for $490 (I think) with free shipping. I got 4WheelParts to price match an ARB for $800 shipped, but they have gone up since then. About $870 shipped is typical.

If you are planning to run the factory Tundra Bilstein/spring setup, it might not be enough lift (the factory Tundra Bilsteins are not adjustable). I had them and it gave me about 2" of lift, but after I installed the ARB/Warn it dropped an inch. The ARB/Warn adds about 150 lbs net. I went with OME 883 springs and brought it back up. It's about 2 1/2" in front and with 7 7/8 wrap LC springs it's about 4" in the back (empty - with all my junk, it's about 3"). It sits just about perfect and handles very well. I used Nitro 9000 shocks from Wheelers on the front and Monroe Gas Magnum shocks for the LC on the back. As I said, handling is great, it and works well off-road.

You should also take into account Black Friday around Thanksgiving, that's what I'm doing for all my higher ticket price items

Clarification:

I intend on getting the adjustable tundra bilstiens for front with factory springs, and having them set on the second perch of which there are five. It's my understanding that will net me around 2.5" of lift. Most likely I'm leaning toward the ome back springs. I thought about the lc 7 wraps but those seem to be more of a "hate to use this word" but (springy) lift geared more toward articulation. I'm wanting to build more toward overlander, expidition runner and felt the 890 would be better suited for it....

Yes/no?

I know and have searched a ton on this issue, but am finally getting to the point where I need more applicable answers.

So far, I'm getting great information and REALLY appreciate the participation of others!
 
Hold off until the end of November when everything seems to go on sale. In the meantime scout craigslist. ARB made alot of these bumpers and people sometimes part with them. I paid $450 for my used ARB bumper off craigslist about two months ago. The seller even bought me the clear corner turn signals as one of the orange covers where missing. Now it just needs a re-paint with a rattle can. Best of luck. They are cool bumpers :)
 
If you plan on having any type of weight in the back (bumper, Tire swing, etc) I would ditch the 890s. I have 890 rear and with fully loaded cargo the rear was way too soft.

What shocks do you plan on running?

I feel the 890 with bilstein 5125 are pretty "springy"
 
Not planning on being able to upgrade the rear bumper for a while however it will be plate with tire carrier (CBI or SW). So for the time being I might build a sleeping platform so there is a chance of having extra added weight in the rear.

Good to hear about the 890's, yes 5100/25 was the plan for the rear.

From what I can gather
5100 are 3rd gen specific
5125 are not vehicle specific just length/ compression specific. ( and different.
Top mount)
