When to change front diff oil?

So I changed front/rear/t-case oil on my 2016 4Runner @ 20K miles. She's at 60K miles now. I changed out the rear diff fluid today, Using Mobil 1 Synthetic 75W90 Gear oil again.

Do I need to change the front out as well? I don't get to use 4X4 nearly as much as I'd like.

I would. Its only $12.99 a quart where i am at. I would do Front and Center diff together. Cost is $39 plus tax. Why not have the extra protection?

Yeah pretty simple. I've done it before. Problem is it's August in the South east so hot and humid as hell for a couple more weeks.

May wait till a little cooler weather.

Nope. I changed my front diff and T/C at 48k then at 94k. Should be easily able to do 60k intervals if you don’t do water crossings. Up to you.

Yes it is. For the center diff, it's a 24mm plug for drain and fill.

Front diff is a hex key. And you have to remove the front skid plates to get to them. The only issue.

The front and center diff both take about 1.5 quarts.

I get lazier on the front diff than on the T case and the rear. The rear gets nasty by 30K, the T case, well, that's so easy why not do it when doing the rear. The front though, it always comes out perfectly clean so I go a little longer. Same for the wifes ride.

I changed my diffs and TC at around 60k. Rear diff and T-case were dark. The front diff was pretty clean though. I'll probably end up changing all again at around 100k.

I agree with this, I like doing my own maintenance. However, on a selectable driveline, you don't need to change the front now. You're in a good spot to drive 30,000 miles, then do both.

Had a little whine in the rear diff in my 2018 SR5.
Changed lube at 15k miles using Valvoline synthetic 75w-90 (highest MIL Specs). Really surprised there was almost 1/8" of babbit on magnetic drain plug. Rear end pretty quiet now,.. will do front & transfer case at 30k miles as an insurance policy. Transmission @ 50k miles and will add aftermarket cooler (or earlier if I start to tow).
