When to replace TPMS?

What I`m saying is that when you take off TPMS on purpose it can make a difference for insurance adjuster, If you feel like fighting it, by all means, dismount any safety feature your insurance gave you discount for, ABS, airbags, seatbelts..... They are for sissies anyway.:lalala:

if the adjuster gets that technical he may effect the damage coverage if the wiper blades are worn or if you lifted the vehicle 2 inches or the tires are not the same exact OEM size ..

TMPS does not effect vehicle operation . abs/seat belts/air bags seat covers interfering with air bags that then would be an insurance coverage issue as you mentioned .

Do you know that for sure or you want to find out after the fact.
Insurance companies do everything not to pay up and modification to the vehicle is their favorite excuse.
TPMS required by law on every passenger vehicle 10000 lb or less made since 2007. It`s one thing if TPMS defective but in place, very different if taken off by owner.

Some cars has ABS sensor monitoring instead. much better system IMHO, lower pressure means higher RPM therefore under inflated.

Solution to what?

Made myself re-read 1st post , so when I bought new tires for son's 05 just went ahead & bought the kit for all 5 . Seems the rubber grommet was pretty dry rotted by hot desert heat , everything was solid until this summer when 1 of them took a dump ! We tried to figure out which one but no joy hence the tpms block done by many on 4th gens ! Why I surmised this was your question sorry for MY confusion on this !! :ear::peep:

Data point for others: our 2010 5th gen finally had TPMS sensors go bad in December. We plan to get them replaced next week.

Just replaced all 4 sensors when getting new tires on a 2013 with 190k.
Makes for a pricey ticket.
BTW, Denso only warrants them for 5 years

My 2010 Limited has at least two TPMS that are bad. My mechanic indicates about $100 per wheel to replace and program. So $500 to replace all five including the spare. Wow.

Batteries are good for 7 years. Bought a set of TRD Off-road wheels w/ tires that came without TPMS sensors. When it came time to replace tires, we added Denso sensors purchased off Amazon for $140 for the 4. Working well and no complaints from the wife.

2014 SR5 that will see 327K miles on Saturday.
