When will the Bilstein 6112 be released?

Hi,

I have searched a lot of forums and haven't found much feedback as to how to how these ride? How do they compare to fox or icons. Are they softer than 5100s? Should I stick with 5100s?

I want to save up for some fox or icons but will these be similar?

Sorry for the convoluted question and this is not so much only for total automotive but for anyone in general.

Thanks

I debated whether or not to go this route or adding the toytec 2" TRD pro spacer lift to the original bilsteins. I chose this route for the stiffer spring setup to reduce the brake dive. Altho the top perch notch seem to be identical the 6112 spring is actually 1" longer as well. I'm still using the rear TRD pro bilsteins just with a toytec HD rear coil to raise the rear for extra load

Are you sure the spring rate is stiffer than stock? Im pretty sure its the same as the OEM spring.

It is more compliant and handles bumps better than OE, while only being slightly softer spring rate. The shock is controlled and reduces brake dive and roll. Different animal compared to a 2.5" coilover system, but rides slightly better than the Fox 2.0 at heights over 2.25" in our opinion.

@ TotalAutomotiveLV - I installed my 6112's and 5160's. I went with the 4th ring for a 2" lift in the front and left the rear OE springs. As it sits now, the front is 1" taller than the rear... In order to achieve a slight correction, what would you recommend for the rear, a 1.5" spacer or a replacement spring?
Once again, thank you for the great service on the original purchase. I would recommend you guys in a heartbeat! [emoji3][emoji106]

Hey thanks! I might hold out for some 2.5 coilovers

What is the best deal people are getting on these? Looking to upgrade on my SR5.

Do not plan on crawling with this truck at all. Just rutted dirt roads, daily driving on crap california roads, towing race cars etc.

Need the ability to level for towing so I'm probably going to need an airbag setup in the rear

Planning on 2" lift

Thanks for any advice!

The middle or 3rd Circlip groove would have gotten you the 2" lift....it's well documented in this thread.

Unfortunately that is something I overlooked. I used the diagram below.

Yes, 3rd or middle clip will give 2 inches of lift. I have 150 lbs of gear in my back at all times for work and I had a bro lean on the 3rd clip. Empty I'd be level, exactly level. Added 1" cornfed spacers and now I'm 3/4 higher in the rear and sitting perfect. I should have went with the second clip in hindsight.

FRONT KIT WITH 600# EIBACH COILS
Part # 6112
Shock # 46-227294

I thought the front OEM Coils were 580# rates

I was told the trd pro spring was tuned to be softer than a stock sr5 spring. Closer to 500lbs or so could be wrong tho. After testing driving a friends sr5 vs my pro with the stock trd pro suspension we both agreed it nose dived a lot more under light braking and body roll was more noticeable in the pro. Off-road tho is where the ride was very plush with the pro vs sr5. The 6112s got rid of most of the nose dive and sway but it's still there just less noticeable. Here's a quick comparison between a stock pro and my pro with 6112s set at the very top clip.

TRD-tuned Eibach® springs with decreased spring rates (softer-than-stock) improve ride quality over harsh terrain and gives a 1-inch higher ride height, for a level front to back appearance that gives better front ground clearance when out on the trail off-highway.

As pointed out in the pdf....

Wow this is great info. It would certainly go with my driving experiences both on and off road since the upgrade. Been loading the front end of my truck with additional weight so im sure its going to sag even more. Regretting not putting her up to the 4th notch now.

I am just a bit confused because of the conversation between you and Rbreezy. Therefore, I wanted to clearify.

[[ IIRC the OEM spring rates are 580#, if this is incorrect, someone with hard documents please correct me! ]]

Only the TRD Pro Suspension is what is documented as having softer spring rates.

This is not the 6112 with Eibach 600# coilovers that that come in the kit.
I contacted Bilstein and specifically asked what the spring rate is on the 6112 kit that we have installed on our T4R's.

Clarification purposes only for the 2 different kits......

Fair point, sorry I just glanced over the details. So we just need to confirm what the stock OEM spring rate is? Either way after the upgrade my truck still handles like a pig :P This is coming from a BMW M3 driver w/competition pack suspension.

Does anyone know what rear coil springs are used in the TRD Pro suspension?

IIRC they have the same OEM rear springs as everyone else

You sir, are correct......
SR5's, Trail's and TRD P's have the same rear springs.

The exception is the Limited's, they have a different spring from what I have been told by Toyota in the past. You can check the part #'s to confirm.
