Where did you buy your 3rd gen?

Bought my first 3rd gen off Saint Louis Craigslist. A 98 Limited 4x4. $4200
Next one off Springfield, MO. Craigslist. A 99 SR5 Highlander 4x4 $6700
Next one I traded a 95 Acura Legend Coupe for to a guy from Springfield, MO. 99 Limited 4x4.
Next was off Springfield, MO. Craigslist, but it was down in Arkansas, 1998 Limited 4x4 $5000
Last one I got off Cargurus up in Springfield, MO. 2002 Limited 4runner. $toomuch
Checked out one tonight off Springfield, MO. Craigslist for $800, broken flexplate, buying it this week.
So pretty much craigslist. I usually look in Oregon and Colorado craigslist too since I travel down there 4 times a year.

Yea I went out yesterday and checked it out. I am going to get it home this week, needs to be trailered due to the broken flexplate. Other than that it was pretty straight and clean title, newer timing belt and water pump, other new parts and has rear e locker. Curious where you are from? Local to lebanon?

I know it's not what you want to hear, but you're gonna have to be patient. They're out there and one will come along. Just have to wait for it. I searched for at least three months, made plenty of calls/sent plenty emails, and test drove different ones before I found mine on Craigslist. I was pretty particular too. I was looking for a 99-02 in white or green under 200k for around $5k. Finally found my 01 SR5 Sport 4x4 with 189k and I got the owner down to $5k. Had to go across the state (about 3.5-4 hours drive) for it, but it was totally worth the waiting, looking, and the drive.

Ok, cool. I just moved back to Lebanon from up by Branson on Table Rock Lake. The people I am getting the 4runner from had 3 4runners. 2 3rd gens and a 4th gen that his wife replaced the 99 I am getting with. He did mention he'd make me a package deal on the other 3rd gen as well. It had some rock sliders and a full newer OME lift and 255 85 BFG's, body was a little rough from wheeling it looked like and it was a limited with no clad or flares so there were the holes around the body. I don't need to buy two 4runners right now so they will probably post it for sale on Craigslist soon too.

Oh, I bought my second one from craigslist a few weeks back from the original owner. Not the prettiest, but it's there to keep the other one looking pretty.

Just gotta be patient haha, buy a unlimited carfax, I still have unlimited reports left over if you need to use mine, just pm the license plate. I found a lot of them near me with accidents.

But I finally got one with low rust for under 5k, 1998 limited with rear locket @ 160k miles.

craigslist

i bought an '00 just about a year ago, SR5, 151k, no rust, very clean for $6200. unfortunately an auto.

(i still keep a pic of the 5 speed that got away... it was $9k for about the same miles. ;( )

New, from Palmer's Airport Toyota in Fall 2000.

Traded it in 07 for a FJ Cruiser. Got 14k for it despite 160,000 miles.

Try using one of the national craigslist searches. I have found some nice trucks on there. You may have to travel a little for them.
