where did you mount your scangauge? (pics request)

Hi,

I am wondering where is the best spot to mount the scangauge.

I have seen pics of it above the steering wheel.


I am wondering if anyone has mounted it:

1) in the slot below your aftermarket radio
or
2) to the right of the 12v outlet / where the change drawer is normally located.

I mounted mine right below the shifter for now... works pretty well and is angled up so you can see it quite easily.

I have my gauge attached to the cup holder on the dash - at least those holders are good for something since they suck for holding drinks.

I like Bootown's the best. However, the way I have mine works pretty well too, and is super easy. It's like you mentioned, left of the 12V...replacing where the change drawer is. Just remove the change drawer and it's mounting bracket, and use some high quality velcro to stick the SGII in there. The cable runs right over to the OBD port and stays hidden easily too.

Had it mounted below the ashtray/center console but I like this spot a lot better. It's not as "clean" of a look but 10x more useful. It only blocks part of the hood (no road is obstructed) and is easier to glance at then the stock gauges.

No pic, but mine's mounted on top of the steering column, front and center, and as far towards the wheel as possible without interfering. I can still see the top 1/2 of the bottom idiot lights in the cluster...but I'm 6'1".

I have mine "below deck" right now. It actually wedges into the compartment there perfectly, so I can just yank it out when I want, shove it back in easily. I tried mounting it in place of the ashtray and i liked it, but the adhesive I used didn't hold. I will eventually look for another way to mount it in place of the ashtray, but for now, I like it below the deck.

There called idiot lights because there for idiots that don't understand that there is a problem with the car.

Had mine above the steering wheel but it blocked the highbeam indicator so i kept forgetting and blinding people. Used a dremel to take the plastic down flush on the drivers side only and she fit right in. I used 3M Trim molding tape to mount get it to stick, works well.

gosh that looks good but every time i drive, i pretend i have one down there and it seems really risky taking your eyes off the road that much.

See for me im planning on watching it like a movie or something while im driving. i wanna have at least my peripheral vision on the road... k not really but it seems like that spot would be a little dangerous and hard to read??

Its much easier to read at night than during the day. Once you configure your gauges and know where they are, it only takes a second to glance down and be able to read them.
