Where do you put the garage door opener.

This is like my only complaint, I've always kept it on the visor, but it's too thick. I've got it on the pull up handle, it looks kinda goofy there though. LOL

In the small storage compartment to the left of the trans shifter (where the 12V power outlet is). It fits in there without the metal visor clip, and I also stuck in a piece of velcro to make it stand up and stay in place.

In my junk drawer in the kitchen....my SE came with Homelink.

Originally I thought Homelink was kind of a stupid, superficial accessory.
But now I'm thinking it's a worthwhile convenience.

Fortunately my opener is tiny. Since I don't have the Homelink, I jsut velcroed my opener in the same place as the Homelink. It is hardly noticeable. I could post pics if needed.

3rd gens have a designated garage door opener compartment in the overhead console. There are three sizes of tabs to use (depending on the remote size) and when in place you simply just press the compartment door a little to activate the remote. No need to open the compartment at all.
Since I dont have garage my sunglasses go in the compartment now.

Agreed, without the Homelink there is no great place to put it. I throw it in the change holder in the front of the console.

A great place to put a garage door opener is on the auxiliary box, just below the defogger switch. Flip it open and put right below the defogger switch.

I opened my garage door opener and attached and external push button switch connected via a lead. i placed the switch into one of the unused slots. it looks clean and cost me only 5 bucks.

That sounds nice. Can you give me more details on how you did this? How long did it take?

It's very easy but first check to verify your opener would allow this. Remove the cover and ground the connection with a piece of wire. This should open/close the garage door if it's working.
Now all you have to do is solder wires to both connection. I used telephone wire. Connect the other ends to a push button switch. you should find something in Radioshack etc. make sure you choose a switch that can fit in one of the unused slots next to the steering column. Just drill and install.

Ditto!!! In the junk drawer in the kitchen as well due to the Homelink. I also agree it is an addictive feature. My Silverado did not come with it so now I am looking into adding it..

In the sunglasses holder. I put my sunglasses in the little compartment below the HVAC controls. It works nicely and its clean.

I took the metal clasp thingy off of mine and stowed it in the useless compartment beneath the HVAC controls.

Well I put it in the compartment next to the trans shifter and it works fine, but I'm so used to years of reaching up that I still catch myself doing so. I might try some velcro and put it in the sunglass holder if I don't break the habit soon. Thanks for the suggestions!!!

I've got mine in the sunglasses holder up above and I just open it when I need to press the button. The visor is just too thick for certain remotes.

I modified the metal clip on mine to fit over the fat sun visor. Took it off, straightened it flat then bent it how i needed. Works great.
