Where has everyone gone?

Seems like activity has really slowed down on this forum. Has everyone upgraded to a 5th gen or something?

besides some forum issues, some of us are posting on facebook.

It appears I am not the only one. Those issues are the same things that pushed me away over a year ago. Been spending more time in the Tacomaworld forum. I recently joined a 4th gen group on Facebook. Hard to tell who’s who from here considering everyone goes by their real names as opposed to their user names. It’s a shame though as this is the first place I joined when I got my truck in 2019.

I still check this site daily but it's been so slow that I'd leave after a post because the response time was terrible. It's been pretty good the past few days so I hope they found and fixed the problem.

The Administrator updated the forum operating system a couple of days ago, but said they're still working on a few issues, but it has been much much faster since he made that announcement.

The iffyness of the site I'm sure has something to do with it. Was trying earlier today and kept getting timeouts but right now it's working well. Hopefully it stays this way.

I had to download tapatalk recently to make it usable. I hate having to have extra apps on my crappy phone when browser versions of websites should work.

That and maybe people are getting better jobs and moving on to newer cars.

Also, check your insurance premiums and valuation of your car. On my "welp, it might be totalled" thread, had I known they would lowball me, I might have just had liability instead of full coverage.

High mileage 4th gens ain't worth sh!t to insurance no matter how well you kept it up.

I actually tried to log in yesterday and had issues with page loads. Where were you seeing updates about the site? I'm not sure who the site owner even is.

I too noticed a lack of activity over the past few months. I don't use social media so this has been my go-to for 4runner stuff. Hopefully things can keep chugging along; there are some good builds and projects from people here and I wanna watch them while adding my own. And ad-blockers are your friend.

The Administrator posted twice about updating the forum in the topic linked below.

Wow the forum is super quick now

I used to post a bunch, but I guess I've just slowly shifted priorities and haven't been as focused on as much 4runner stuff as I used to. I'm on the facebook pages too, but I rarely keep up with them anymore. I still have a half baked writeup on suspension install, that I never got around to finishing. It just became unfun to work on a car that I relied on to go to work everyday. Recently got a motorcycle though, so possibly that will give me more freedom to have the 4runner apart for a few days, while still being able to get to work

You're one of the people I associate most with this forum, and your absence has been noted! I really do appreciate all the guides you've put together- it's what initially pushed me to make a build thread, though it needs some work as I've been slow to show some less common things I've been up to lately. I've used your stuff to consult on other things just because the level of detail is so good. Many thanks!

I do agree though- its a hurdle to work on the daily driver. I've got cam gears just itching to go in but I gotta make sure I'm completely ready

LOL I said I downloaded tapatalk to make it usable but now tapatalk glitches out and won't connect this week. Now back to mobile browser version.
