Where is the crankshaft position sensor

Hi! I have P0335 check engine error code, and I can’t find the crankshaft position sensor for the life of me. Does anyone have a diagram or photo of where it is on my 2015 sr5?

I’ve searched google and can’t find anything definitive.

Behind the A/C compressor. Sorry. :(

Have to work through the D/S wheelwell.

IDK if you have to disconnect the compressor or not, I am thinking not.

I think it's still in the same spot as the early 1GR. I haven't double checked the part numbers to make sure they're still the same though.

Just to make you laugh - I had one go bad in my GM HD2500 - and guess where the genius engineers at GM decided to put it? In the bell housing on the fawking rear end of the crank shaft. Make it as difficult as possible to access, and then also use a low quality part that commonly fails. It was a common problem on the L18 v8. You can pull the sensor from the top of the bell housing by lifting the cab off. Yay - it's that easy. Just pull the cab off and you can swap it out.

I'm pretty sure this one should be a lot easier to swap out.
 
Steps and pics to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor

Hi Dudes and Gals,
May as well give the details of the replacement in case it helps someone else.

The sensor is mounted on the passenger's side of the AC compressor and completely inaccessible until the AC compressor is unbolted and pulled away from the engine. Here are the steps to perform the replacement with some pics:

1) Remove the front skid plate.
2) Remove the bracket holding the AC line on the front passenger's side of the engine (10 MM socket).
3) Untension the serpentine belt and pull it off the front of the ac compressor (16 MM socket turned counter clockwise)
4) Unplug the electrical connector on the AC compressor
5) Using whatever tiny hands and socket wrench extensions work best, remove the three bolts and one nut (upper left hole on compressor) that mount the AC compressor to the engine (12 MM socket). The AC compressor is on the lower driver's side of the engine.
6) Through the driver's side wheel well access, pull the AC compressor as much as you can towards the wheel well and tie it off to create the space you need to get in behind the compressor to access the Crank Shaft Position sensor
7) Using whatever tiny hands, flathead scewdriver and 10 MM socket access you can, disconnect the crank shaft position sensor electrical connection and unbolt the sensor mount with the 10 MM socket
8) Remove the crank shaft position sensor from it's hole, and insert the new position sensor in the hole
9) partially bolt the sensor back on to make it stable to re-connect the electrical connection
10) reconnect the electrical connection
11) Fully bolt the sensor down
12) Re-mount the AC compressor
13) Untension the serpentine belt again and loop it back onto the AC compressor
14) Re-mount the AC line bracket on the front passenger's side
15) Fire the engine up

Helped me today! Just shut down in the sticks. Wife brought out a new sensor. Started right up. Luckily had my reader with me.

Thanks for the post. Im getting an error code P0345 and it is coming back as a camshaft position sensor failure as well, but it says bank 2. Are all of the camshaft position sensors located in the same place?

Think about it. Crankshaft is down low, camshaft(s) are higher. By saying bank 2 I would guess one on each cylinder head.

There is 1 crankshaft in the bottom of the engine, there are 4 camshafts located at the top of the engine, 2 for each bank. Your bank 2 cam position sensor is drivers side, top of the engine on the valve cover. IMHO, the sensor itself is less likely to be bad than a wiring issue.

P0345 There is no VVT sensor signal despite the crankshaft position sensor input being normal at an engine speed of 600 rpm or more (1 trip detection logic).
Open or short in VVT sensor circuit for intake camshaft
VVT sensor for intake camshaft
Camshaft timing gear for intake camshaft
Timing chain for intake camshaft has jumped tooth
ECM
