Im thinking of getting a cb, but not sure where to put it just yet. Was thinking of the uniden 520xl pro. Pictures of your mounting location and ant. would be awesome

I'm using a Comet HD-5 mount (I think that's the model #) but eventally I would like to mount it on a steel bumper I have plans for.

So far this setup works good but the mount did come apart on Imogene pass last year. Also, I had the mic end changed to a 90* end so the lid will easily shut.

im running a old uniden pc33x that came out of my parents 87 1st gen. it started in a 4runner so i had to put it in mine, and it was free. and running a k30 whip on the roof.

Yes, most folks use CB's on the trails. I have a ham as well.

As far as which one I use a Cobra 75WXST which is very small and the control box can be installed inside the center console which is unseen. When I use it I just attach the handheld part. I also have an external speaker mounted through the useless pocket as shown in post #2.

I had an in-dash install in my old Pathfinder and loved the look. I honestly just didn't want to put a lot of work into the install so here's where she went:

It's been totally fine on the last few trail runs. Plan to use it all next week in Moab so we'll see just how much I like it here. Again, super easy install.
