Live in Japan, so I have the Surf instead of 4runner. It's so convenient.

The Surf has the same sheet metal as our 3rd gens? So if we could get one of these here it would bolt up? Reason is I think it covers less rear glass than most that I see out there.

Mine takes up a lot of space, but this is what I currently do when I run a spare. Hoping to figure something out that doesn't take up as much room.

Man I wish. It's a CO2 tank to fill tires with. However, there is a guy that works at Toytec that has a tap coming out the tailgate of his FJ. It's pretty sweet.

that is the way to do it if you have long travel suspension, my jack is not long enough to lift the truck to get it on jack stands and let my suspension droop fully, and that was before i had 35s.

It does, I believe there's some hefty bracing inside the vehicle though.

Parts that you would have to purchase are full rear hatch (catch mechanism is built into door), swing arm, mounting brackets. I can pull my rear interior panel and see what kind of bracing is involved in the interior if you're interested.

its only like 6 and a half haha. I know what you mean though. We had some issues with clearance and originally that looked to be a good position. I am thinking of lowering it to where the center of the wheel will be about the same height as the bottom on the window

your doing it wrong then. put the jack under the axle in the rear to lift the wheel up, on the front I put it right onto one of the big rivets for the lbj mount. people that have 80 series on 37" axles are using the stock jack so please just learn how to do it.

Yeah I'm more than a bit skeptical that you have ever changed a tire this way on 35s or 37s.

I've lifted a front wheel this way and it sucks so much and is hella dangerous.

If you are going to use the stock jack then a jack stand if an absolute must because it is just so unsafe.
