Where Should I Start?

I recently bought a 2000 SR5 4WD that's completely factory and I love it so far. However I'm wanting to start my modifications, but I'm having trouble deciding what to work on first? Any suggestions like wheels and tires or something else? I'm looking forward to any and all ideas...

Do the deckplate mod, ISR, and trash the runnning boards. Those 3 are relatively cheap. Then lift it and get tires.

That's a good start. If you cannot swing a lift AND tires, just upgrading the tires/wheels can make a HUGE difference.

Maintenance first. Go through it, set a solid base to build your mods on. If all maintenance is up to date, then just do things as your budget allows. Most guys will tell you they didn't build their 4R in one shot.

I agree. Make sure it's in proper running condition and then go from there. Your budget will also dictate what options you have. Go through the build threads at the top of the page for ideas too.

Maintenance first!! Then mods, for mods will leave you stranded if your car or truck is not running properly. Unless of course, you are MacGyver !!imp:

To answer your question, you shouldn't....start modding.

Once you do it's all over with. You'll spend hours upon hours researching, reading others build threads, making lists of mods you want, finding out how to obtain the most cost effective approach for each, likely will start writing how-to articles and eventually will step back and realize your rig kinda resembles what you started with but it's SO MUCH BETTER! :frog: Take it from one crack head to a potential crack-head...don't start. :nono:

Thanks for the comments and suggestions everyone. My first purchase will be new brakes/rotors in the front and also an O2 Sensor that recently went out. The timing belt was changed about 30,000 miles ago so overall it's a very clean vehicle and runs great.

I really like the LED lighting kits and the fog lights are also a great suggestion.

I'm thinking about removing the running boards, but how difficult is it since I have the fender flare moldings that tie in? Will those have to go as well?

Also what exactly is a deckplate mod and an ISR? :shrug:

Deckplate mod is cutting a hole in your air box to allow more air in. ISR or intake silence removal is removing the silencer box and essentially making the tube shorter.
