Where the heck do I put my Hi-Lift Jack?

Are you using the jackstand for doing on the trail repairs? I've lifted my TE using a Lift-Mate on the stock wheels enough to stack some rocks under the tire and get on my way. Just remember to chock the opposite tire for stability.

It makes getting out of sand easy, sure enough. I did have to use it on my Explorer (no hard-points) to change a flat, once, when the bottlejack failed. I found a log big enough to use that time, but now I pack a jackstand when I'm back-country with the Explorer, and it's a pain. Nobody makes a proper collapsible jack-stand, so I think I'll be getting an X-Jack before next summer.

I know I'm reviving an old thread, but thought people with 3rd row seats like me might benefit from a quick/cheap mod.

Cost was about $5 in parts:
2 3/8in bolts
2 3/8in lock nuts
couple of washers and wingnuts

Sorry to bring up an old post. Do you have any more pictures of how you mounted the bolts?

Maybe money is an issue, but if not just buy 2 LFD crossbars, a wind fairing, and their Hi-lift mount and put it out of the way on the roof. That is what I did, works great.

The LFD mount is quality, you could probably use it on the factory bars if you drilled holes to bolt it down.

It isn't there anymore. Now it resides on the rear bumper behind the spare.
