4route, where did you get yours and how much was it? I am debating cabelas or trying to look around at random auto parts/off-road shops

I was thinking the shackle or a tow hook, not sure which one i want, the hook looks like a nice thing to have especially if someone rear-ends you, they would get some front end damage...lol

That is a top view pic of it in my current avatar. More pics and details can be found in my signature thread. I bought mine from Pepboys special order. I think it was about $44. It came all silver, with no orange or red on the bolt. I checked with tons of retail stores to see if they had one in stock, but I only found one offroading store that had one in stock and it was a pretty good drive and it wasn't the WARN one that I knew I liked and worked on 4routes.
I almost used it to pull a guy out on this back road I was exploring in Santa Barbara. I stopped before this giant flooded area and was contemplating turning around when this jerk swerved around me, halfway on a hill, and nearly hitting me. He proceeded to get himself majoring stuck. I carefully turned the 4runner around, backed up as close as I could, and jumped out to ask if he needed some help. Apparently he had already called some friends for help, so he said I could take off. This road was in pretty bad shape (and therefore was a blast to drive on) and I once again wished I had 4wd.......didn't get stuck though.

I recommend the shackle over the hook ANY day ... seriously, just do a search here or over at yotatech.com and you will find that most people would actually recommend AGAINST the hook for safety reasons.
I have used the shackle receiver to pull people out before, and it works great, and is far safer than a hook.

Yeah, I agree 4Route about the safety of the tow hook, that idea is out now, i was thinkin my luck i will walk into the thing when i am loading and unloading my truck...haha...i am gonna go with the shackle...thanks for your insight

Just ordered a warn receiver shackle from 4wheelparts.com for $41.30 shipped, was cheaper than performanceproducts and cabelas...
