Where to disconnect XREAS?

I've had my springs/spacer for the front a good while now, and I'm anxious to get them in. I was going to do the install myself, but I never seem to have the time. Several local shops won't touch my 4runner, but I have found a guy who will install for $60 (2 hours of labor). The only downside is he has a bench mounted spring compressor, and must take the shocks out or he won't do it. I've read up, and I know it is safe to disconnect XREAS, but only at the right points. You need the vehicle lifted up and supported on the frame, with all 4 wheels fully extended down. I know not to disconnect at the shock, but can't find anything showing exactly where to disconnect. The guy said if I can get him a diagram showing what to do, he'll get it done. Any help? Thanks!

BTW, just wanted to add--- there is a slight risk of developing leaks if you disconnect your XREAS system. Even the Toyota literature states that you can only disconnect it once and then they recommend that you replace the entire system if it needs to be disconnected again for some reason.

I installed my own spacers in my garage at home. It can be done quite easily without disconnecting XREAS if you just use a pair of portable spring compressors. If you don't have any, you can rent them for free at places like Autozone.

My 4Runner is a 2004 and no leaks at all on the XREAS system....knock on wood!

Thanks for the pdf's, that really helps out. At first I told the guy it couldn't be disconnected, and he just asked that I find some more out on it and get back with him. I mentioned the portable compressor, he didn't want to do that though. If he will knock it out in two hours, I'll gladly pay to not have to deal with the headache. I'm at 130k miles, so I figure the XREAS system is on it's last leg. I'll try this, and if something does happen, I'll swap out with Bilstein's. I've been meaning to do this for over a month now, just never can get around to it. Thanks again!

OK, I see what's listed as the disconnect points about halfway back. Is it these I'm looking for, or the ones closer to the shock? The ones in question are circled in red:

You'll want your mechanic to disconnect at the point close to the shocks.

OK. It didn't show a check valve there, but I thought there should be. So, have all 4 wheels fully extended and then disconnect at the point circled on the left and I should be fine, right? I'll be there, probably going to give him a hand with the job. He definitely wanted me to check into the XREAS system and have the info prepared. I'm not sure if he is just gonna look at it and give me a better estimate or if he's planning to install, but I'm meeting him Wednesday at the shop. Hopefully all goes well and we can get it installed. Thanks for your help.

Good point about the check valve. Now that you mention it, I'm not 100% sure either. I just assumed that there would be a check valve near each shock, especially if the shocks are considered replaceable without disconnecting the entire system. Definitely do a little more research before you guys take it apart.

Best I can tell the location near the shock (not AT the shock, but the one circled near it) is the place to do it. The literature doesn't show the check valve there, but from what I can tell it is safe to disconnect there. Can anyone else confirm this?

Here are the front and rear xreas shocks disconnected at the check valve.
