Where to get blank key?

Where can I get a blank key? I checked eBay and they sell blanks with the transponders. I don't think mine has a transponder since my key is all metal (the picture is my key). And can I just get it cut by any locksmith? Thanks guys.

Im thinkin most lock shops should have what you need, if they don't move on to the next one. We have a lock shop at work and its real handy, except I've got keys still floating around from rigs I haven't had in years
 
The dealership will cut you a new one for free and you dont even need your old key. Just take in your VIN and proof of ownership. They have your key pattern saved on a database.

Side note: I am assuming that your Toyota dealership in Seattle will do this for free being that mine in Tulsa did. I dont want to be called liar if that turns out to not be the case...heh.
 
did you want a TOYOTA key? or a key that will fit your 4runner? you can get a key that will fit at any hardware store. if you want a TOYOTA brand key you're gonna have to go to the dealership.

Ideally I'd like a Toyota key. Thanks I'll check with my dealer to see how much they charge.

I noticed my OEM keys were getting worn out. I went to the dealer and had a complete new set cut from the VIN. Here are the keys' part numbers:
The master is 90999-00186 the sub is 90999-00188 the master w/plastic is 90999-00185

The ignition was a little stiff at first, but now it's more smooth than it was with the 15 year old OEM keys. If you go to home depot you are just getting a copy of a worn out key. I spent $20 for the complete set, well worth it to get an original cut from the VIN.
 
Saved that pic of your key and now I am making copies! Gonna come up to Seattle and find your truck..

Nah, I wouldn't do that.
 
Dealers carry the blanks

I was only able to find the blanks at the stealership. As noted above, they will cut new keys for you based on the VIN, just take your registration with you.

What is the sub one for?
 
The subkey is the one you pictured. (rounded) It's the "valet" key. It does not work in the glovebox. On the chipped (transponder keys; which all have a rubber head) it supposedly sends a different signal to the vehicle's computer that it's not a master key.

No kidding. So the all this time I've been using the valet key without knowing it. That's the only key that was given to me by the previous owner. So I actually would want either the master is 90999-00186 or the master w/plastic is 90999-00185?
 
Yeah. Either one depending on if you want the black plastic one or not. The metal master looks like your valet but with squared edges instead of round.
 
I figured I'd post here instead of starting a new thread. I don't want the plastic key and all I have is the valet key. Camelback carries the all metal key blanks for $4.93. My local dealership wants $25. If I get the sub key, part # 90999-00188, not the master, part # 90999-00186, could I just get the sub key cut as the master key so it works in the glove box? Just figured I'd check.
 
Just an FYI

When you go to the dealership to get the key cut off your vin number make sure to write down what the key cuts are. If you write them down then save it with your files or on your phone the next time you need a key or let's say your on vacation and lost your keys. All you would need to do is tell the locksmith what your key cuts are and he can cut a new key, easy peasy. You can also just take a picture of your freshly cut key. It's real easy to look at a key and figure out what the cuts are.
 
does anyone have the part # for a transponder key AKA chip key......



i got some cheap ones off eBay and no one was able to program them... plus they are hallow and cheap feeling... you pay for what you get....
