Where To Go? Last Minute Camping Trip

So me, my wife and my buddy were supposed to go down to Baja to go camping but he just got sick and probably can't go. I don't know Mexico very well so I don't plan on going alone without him. So this leaves me to decide where to go for today (Friday) through Sunday. Looking to do some exploring, light off-roading and some camping. I could just go up to the San Bernardino mountains but that's my backyard and I've done that plenty of times.

Anyone got any ideas for this trip? Trying to stay <4 hours from home (Inland Empire)

You can check out somewhere up in eastern Sierra Nevadas. It's way closer to SB than Mexico lol. I just got back from Baja and it was fantastic so sorry you're missing that... but the weather now couldn't be nicer up in Alabama Hills, Kennedy Meadows, Coyote Flats, Rock Creek, etc. Lots to do; all up to how far you wanna drive

You can check out Anza Borrego. I just came back from a 3 day trip. You can literally drive around and set up camp where ever you want. Shade is a little on the sparse side, which might be a problem since its going to be hot this weekend and even hotter the next. Some of the canyon sides and washes are pretty amazing.

alabama hills is a great option for 395 camping, as is the buttermilks area near bishop.
