for interior but mostly the rear plate lights

I got this slightly smoked cover (the white plate on grey with black emblems looks way too weird... so i had to get a smoked plate cover to match otherwise the contrast ruined it all.. i got the lightest plate cover i could find so i dont get pulled over its perfect in day light as you can see. not too dark
but at night time its hard to see

mostly because the poverty bulbs we got for the plates the cover just makes em alot worse

i bought led's before for another car where they were so white and bright i dont really wanna stand out like that either just somewhere in between

any ideas which led's i should get ? at same time may as well swap for interior bulbs too i guess

Saw a BMW the other day whose license plate lights could be used as reversing lights. Seriously!

I used the Philips LED White 168 for license plate bulbs, the door courtesy footlights, interior map lights. Some people get the brightest lights they can find, but who wants to be blinded when you turn on a map light at night?

You can find them on Amazon or your local auto parts store.

Amazon.com: Philips 168WLED Ultinon LED (White), 2 Pack: Automotive

(BTW, you probably know this, but search the forum for advice on replacing the door courtesy light bulbs. Disconnect the battery while doing it, the socket is always hot when the door is open. Most 5th Gen models do not have a fuse for those lights. If you short the pins you will damage the MB ECU, $$ to replace. So test each bulb with a 9v battery before installation before installing).

the 2021 came with decent light inside

any chance you snap a pic of your bulbs on the plate or at least tell me they arent too bright?

The bulbs aren’t super bright. But they’re more white than the OEM incandescents. The 4R license bulbs are oriented kind of strange, one is pointed away from the center of the plate. (At least up to MY 2018, maybe 20+ are different). Some OCD folks have spliced the wiring of one bulb holder assembly to lengthen it and be able to rotate the whole assembly 180 degrees to better illuminate the plate center. Too much bother for me. Who needs to see your plate except cops.
