Which engine??

I can choose between one engine with 115k miles for $1200 or one with 90k miles for $1500. Do you guys think that 25k miles are really worth $300? I want to say yes to the one with 90k miles but we know nothing about the cars they came out of.

I wouldn't think they would be that far off in price so maybe the more expensive one is in better shape? It's just really hard to choose.

I have thought assuming they both were at fault for the crash the 115k mile one was a better driver cause it lasted longer. I mean it's just a guess not knowing anything about the car they came out of..

What would you guys do?

has the timing belt and water pump been replaced on the 115k motor?

what happened to the 90k one? bad accident or?

We don't know anything about either of the cars they came out of, and neither does the guy with the engines. He's just charging us to put it in, he won't sell the engine alone. So it's $2200 for the 115k engine and $2500 for the 90k engine. I will find out about if the timing belt or water pump has been replaced. That's a good point to see if they took care of it. Thanks dude that might just be the deal breaker.

Did you find the guy on CL? Nothing against this guy but I had seen some complaints on our local CL about some guy selling 3.4's that were junk and the guy didn't own up. I don't want to be devil's advocate but get some references from this dude, especially since he doesn't know anything about the engines, how does he know the mileage is my question???

My buddy and I had to swap out his 3.4 went down to Yota yard in Denver got one out of a wrecked 99 taco w/80k for 1200. We got to see the vehicle before the engine was pulled, we went to lunch and came back an hour later and they loaded us up.

you trying to shit on my parade or something? lol I've already been to a couple different places and this is the "cheapest" so far. It's not like anything that happens to the engine would be the guys fault, it's not like they were his engines. As long as he does the job and the car runs I couldn't care less. They are making me come in for an inspection after 500 miles so they sound pretty legit. I mean it's not like I can do this job myself.. You can only do such a good job installing a used engine, you know?

Plus he's giving a 90 day warranty, a lot better than most used engines with only a 30 day..

besides it's already being worked on it's too late to back out now. I could have changed it today but it's too late now. Thanks anyways.
