Which FJ springs?

First I'd like to say hello to everyone, just joined today.
I have a 2004 2WD V8 that I purchased about 3 weeks ago.
I'd like to know which FJ springs are recommended for this set up with the Bilstein 5100 struts & shocks. I tried to search but can't find the answer so if someone could help me out I'd appreciate it.

I'm pretty sure any year coil will be a direct swap but not the shocks, and you're going to want the fj coils from a 4wd.

No they wont.

Only the 07-09 are a direct swap. The newer spring need a little modification to fit properly.

Might want to re-research, because this is not correct. I have 2010 FJ springs on my 05 T4R 4WD. I just put them on Saturday, fit like a champ.

IIRC, it is the SHOCKS that need to be modified. The springs don't, I know for a fact.

any set from an 07-09 4x4 FJ will be a direct replacement for any 03-09 4runner, but those from 2010's require some slight modification. 2WD springs will fit as well, but will not yield the same results."

You'll have to get [MENTION=44866]ARK_SWAMP_RIDER[/MENTION] in here since it was his sticky (I think) but any coil SPRING should be a direct swap. You really can't modify much on the coil spring. Any fj coil spring will work and a 4wd will produce more lift and it will be stiffer. But only the 07-09 fj shocks are a direct swap.

+1 on ANY fj coils will work 2010+ SHOCKS are the only thing that needs to be modified.

You'll have to get [MENTION=44866]ARK_SWAMP_RIDER[/MENTION] in here since it was his sticky (I think) but any coil SPRING should be a direct swap. You really can't modify much on the coil spring. The newer fj shocks are what need to be modified. And if I'm correct, to be specific, the lower mounting point on the shock is what needs to be adjusted.

That one isn't my post....so can't update it. FJ coils 07-current are a direct swap. 07-09 shocks are a direct swap. On 2010+ shocks, the front mount is too wide so you have to grind it down, and the rear upper stem is a larger diameter so you have to drill out the mount on the 4runner.

Yeah, I feel you. I saw that in the sticky also, but researched around it and found out they fit no problem so I put them in, and they are perfect.

There are a couple more things that bug me about that sticky. Has old color codes of springs but not new, has that 07-09 spring info, but the main thing is the chart is small and gets blurry to the point of me having to try to figure out if it's an "8" or a "6" when I try to zoom the page. Could be better with a linked google doc I recon...

Anyway, it's an old sticky, so what do you expect? It's still useful, and a great starting point. Plus IIRC the posts in that thread also give some good help as to what to expect.

Ya my coils and shocks are from an '09 so I would have no way of knowing first hand.

Fj coils really are one of the best ways to get a little lift for cheap. I paid $30 for my set.

I'd just like to key in my 2 cents. I bought new Moog FJ springs from rock auto.com, and they did NOT seat onto my axle. The springs are a little tight around the bottom, so I might have to dremel away at the the seat part that sticks out of the axle (that the spring sits over). The garage tried banging them on and muscling it but it did not sit which is dangerous. Go oem if you can.
