Which key fob? 1997 4runner

I have a 1997 4runner limited and have looked around and cant seem to find solid information regarding my keyless entry. The boxes FCC ID is bab237000-129 but from what I've read I need a fob that reads BAB237131-022. Will any fob work that has the id BAB237131-022? I can't find a fob with the ID bab237000-129 but have found a few aftermarket fobs on amazon and ebay;

I thought the RS3000 was for the new models but I could be wrong. Its the identical one I bought for my 96 and has worked for years now.

The paperwork that came with the truck has an rs3000 pamphlet. I'll check again but I'll probably end up buying that one. If it doesn't work I'll send it back.

Maybe I got it backwards, the rs3000 was dealer installed since was not an option in the older models?

This shows the box I believe I have so maybe that second link will work and I do have the RS3000 system.

I had problems programming it until I cleared the alarms FOB memory then it programmed on the first try.

Tried programming and the keyless isn't working. I erased the previous remotes and I can see the lights flash when I program it but my doors won't lock or unlock with the fob. Anybody have a similar problem?

So you see the receiver respond to your remote, but no lock action? Or nothing period.

When I get the receiver into programming mode and press a button on my remote the security light stops blinking and the lights flash but the remote won't control the door locks at all.

How many times have you tried. I think it took me more than two. But by then I had already tried a bunch of times. Then cleared the FOB memory and tried again. It may be worth unplugging the module for a while to see if there is a reset inside.

I tried quite a few times and it never worked. I'll try unplugging it and see what happens. Is there a reason that the alarm might be disarmed and causing the remote not to work? I have no chirp and don't have the original fob and have to unlock my doors with a key. No alarm goes off though.

This may be a stupid question. But, are you using a original manual to program or a copy of something from the Internet?

Hey 19963.4lsr5, I had the same problem where my 4Runner RS3000 alarm light would reset and the lights would blink, but the system would NOT put out the chirp sound nor lock or unlock the doors

What did you end up doing to fix the problem?? Unplugg the RS3000 box or something else?? Please help! I feel like I got the right "Black" remote key FOB for my 1997 and that I'm so close to fixing it.

You are lucky - my key fob doesn't have any FCC ID on it and looks like some cheap plastic c...p. I have found FCC ID on the unit box itself and ordered key fob for that one from ebay. Will see how it work out...
