Which lift kit?

Hello all

Having trouble deciding on what route to go with a lift. I'm looking at spacer lifts and coils. Coil lifts are pricey especially when you toss in UCA'S. Do UCA's need to be purchased right away?

The reason I'm looking at spacer lifts is cost...and I don't really go offroad much. Any tophat spacers out there that don't require disassembling struts?

Any comments and suggestions are helpful.

First of all, are your lower control arm cam bolts frozen? If they are, then you won't be able to get a proper alignment unless you either fix them or get a highly adjustable pair of UCAs like SPC sells, or both (new LCAs and SPCs) for ultimate adjustability..

Secondly what size tires do you want to run? That will tell you how tall you should go on the lift.

If you plan to go more than ~+2.5"~ in the front you will have a hard time getting a good alignment with correct caster numbers (this is the measurement that allows your car to have tight responsive steering instead of sloppy and imprecise). Even though you don't go offroad much I still wouldn't recommend the spacer except as a temporary solution. All of our runners are starting to get up in age and adding spacers exacerbates the issues that are bound to occur when riding on 9-15 year old suspension components like springs and shocks. Especially when they are being routinely maxed out on travel from spacers.

If you're looking for a cheap and good solution I would recommend using Bilstein 5100 shocks on all corners and whatever springs you need in combination with those. (springs depend on the height you want to go with) If you go above 2 inches of lift or if your LCA cam bolts are frozen then I would recommend SPC UCAs as well to complete the lift. Yes they are expensive but they are well worth the money and [MENTION=99912]battleborn[/MENTION]Offroad is having a sale on them too.
