Which Monroe Max-Lift or Strong Arm for rear hatch?

My tailgate is full of sound deadening and the shocks are old and worn in my 2003. According to JCWhitney, three models of Monroe fit our hatches: Monroe - Max-Lift Hatch Lift Supports - JCWhitney.

Any experience with these? For me, the stronger the better (probably) because of the additional weight from the sound deadening.

I would skip the Strong-Arms. I've had them for five years, but they were only a slight improvement over the worn stock struts I had, and I don't have any additional weight in the tailgate.

I put the Strong-Arms in mine and they work great, they have 2 models, i went with the heavy duty. The hatch will slap you in the face if your not careful, and you can really feel the resistance when closing. I went to their site to purchase them, don't know if that matters or not.

I just looked up that number (and a few variations) to no avail. I just emailed Strong-Arm to have them send me the part numbers.

I just replaced my hood struts on my '03 with the ole eBay China special and I have to say, they work great and there was no modification. I'll be buying the same for the rear hatch.
