for those who use iphone/ipad app for navigation, what do you use?

Three on my phone:

1. Apple Maps (standard) for everyday navigation. It is not as good as Google (but getting close) but reliable enough and I like the integration with my phone.

2. Garmin North America app. This is 2.5 GB app I think because it contains the entire NA mapping. No cell service needed. So, for those rare moments of bad cell (I have Sprint ), I have this as backup. This was useful on my recent trip to Colorado Rocky Mountain park where there was no cell service (thus, no Apple Maps).

3. iArrow app. This is great for finding where I parked.

Android here, I just use Google Maps. That said, I'll have to look into the Garmin NA maps... was out a couple weeks ago in an area with spotty cell service, that would have come in handy.

I use Waze, Apple Maps, Google maps for city driving. I use PDF maps for national forest driving, pretty cool if your state has free Topo maps.

Been looking into Gaia and also a Bluetooth GPS transponder. I really want to use my iPad more for nav.

I have Waze on my Android phone and I completely recommend it. It has gotten me out of a possible speeding ticket on several occasions. It should be available on iPhones as well.

I was really diggin waze, but I found out they are in partnership with the NYPD, and various other police agencies. To me that is a big NO! Uninstalled it right away. To bad cause I really liked it. So if you don't mind being tracked by your police force then it's cool.

Do you have a source? Last I heard, cops hated Waze and were trying to get it banned since it endangers police officers' lives by letting cop-killers know where they are. It was a big issue at a nearby Sheriff's office.

I use Waze daily for traffic info as well as for navigation, and have been since pretty much the beginning, but oddly enough I'm not its biggest fan. I think the main thing that bugs me are the ads. They don't appear unless you come to a stop for a bit, but I find them annoying. If they offered a paid version to get rid of the ads, I'd gladly do that and probably be much happier with it.

Another thing to watch out for, sometimes Waze takes me on some super weird routes that add a lot of time to my drive. It's usually related to obscure locations like pumpkin patches or private residences in the middle of nowhere, but I remember one time in particular where Waze wanted me to drive an additional 45 minutes. I saw a sign for the pumpkin patch on the highway, took that exit, and Waze rerouted me and I was 3 minutes away. :wtf: Anyone else experienced something like this?
