Not in the manual = not needed.

Not in the manual means they don't have to include it in 5 year cost of ownership. Anything they recommend gets included for publications like Consumer Reports when they project cost of ownership. ALL fluids go bad.All fluids have to be changed at some point. Do you wait till the oil is cooked to change it or change it at a reasonable mileage. I work at a dealership and i changed all my fluids every 50k. My 2000 3rd gen has 300,145 on it and i have the original drive-line and it has never been touched except for fluids. Its so much cheaper to maintain than to repair. YMMV
