Which Oil Filter do you use?

The absolute best filter you can get is the OEM Denso one from the factory. It blows away anything you can get in any auto store.

PN 90915-20004. Try to get your dealer to order you some from Japan, if you cant, I have a number of someone who can.

Rated at 7.5k intervals on the V8.

Has anyone noticed that AMSOil no longer recomends thier EA057 oil filter be used in any Toyota/Lexus applications and shows no other EA0 filter to used either. They only show MANN... Real nice, since I bought 3 of them (EA057) a few months ago when they did recomend them. Does anybody no anything about this?, how about thier EA034 filter?, or does anybody know where someone could get Mobil1 M1-102 or M1-209 filters for less than $12.00?, I payed $10.00 for the AMSoil trial Perferred Customer status and payed $12.15 for thier filter.

There was an Amsoil TSB regarding loss of oil pressure indications in certain Toyota/Lexus engines during extended intervals, so they now recommend they be used for the OEM oil change interval. Depending on the kind of oil you run, you might be able to get 5qts of M1 and an M1 filter for $30 at AZ or AA and that would bring the cost down a bit.

Im going to use Donaldson P169071 filters with M1 EP for 10-15K OCI I think after seeing some stellar UOA on BITOG.

Apparently the 90915-2004 filter is available from Carson Toyota here in So Cal. for $14.96/ea, and they are not too far from me so ... since everybody seems to have an issue of one sort or another with Amsoil and Mobil1 filters. I guess I'll just stick with Amsoil 5w30 oil (haven't found anyone with issues with thier oil) and the Denso/Toyota 90915-2004 filters. Sure wish the Manufacturers provided more info on thier filters, I.E. flow ratings,filtering capacity, bypass settings and the psid accross them.

i use mobil 1 m1-209 its longer than stock, and it works well on my 4.0, that filter i use , they use it on audi and vw and fords and other brands.

I use any of the following with synthetic oil for 7 months/7,500 miles if I run under severe conditions, if not 15,000 miles/1 year:

-Fram Extended Guard
-Bosch Distance Plus
-Mobil 1 EP
-K&N

The Fram Extended Guard is so well built that it has 2 ply synthetic media that is reinforced with a wire-mesh backing aside from the metal center tube.

As of today, Apr 26 2011 this info is still legit, just ordered 2 x 10 filters at around $9 ea. + shipping. Dan said he had over 400 in stock.

I'm curious how the Toyota OEM 90915-YZZD3 and OEM 90915-20004 oil filters compare because they are the same physical size container. I was told that the YZZD3 filter is the updated version of the 20004 filter, but would like confirmation from someone who has actually opened up both filters. The web site that has been linked to in this thread several times compares the 20004 filter to a 08922-02011 filter, not the YZZD3 filter.

I'm curious as to the benefit of using the 20004 filter verses the YZZD3 filter. Has anyone cracked open the replacement filter (YZZD3) and compared it to the 20004 filter?
