What a stupid dealer. I think the biggest appeal of a vehicle like this in that condition is to the people who wish they could buy it new, but missed out.
So to change out the original wheels, lift it, and put larger tires makes no sense. You shouldn't mod something whose biggest value is being in like new condition if you plan on selling it.
Not that I'd ever buy something like this, and I'm not rich enough to pull a whistlindiesel and use it without a care in the world. I guess it's more likely to be a show piece than something you bash around.

The highest I paid for one was 2.5K. 5 speed manual. So not this sucker. 
People get way out of hand on the 3rd gens pricing. MSRP When new started around $30. Just show us how bad inflation went they start at $60K up to $100K now. This is why they are still pricey being over 20 years old now.
This is probably why lots of rust free properly maintained ones go for what they do. Granted, that price is entirely too high or people like to waste money in my opinion.

I see dealers like this all over, buy cheap 4Rs, throw on a equally (if not more cheap) lift, the "Amazon Special" mud tires, then markup 10x what they paid. Absolutely ridiculous.

I've never paid more than $5500 for a vehicle (My 86 4runner, in 1993) in my life. Based on current finances I'm pretty sure I never will.
