which perch/top spacer on tundra 5100s/eibach

hey guys I searched around for a straight answer on this topic...seems like everyone says something different, go figure

I have tundra 5100s and toytec/eibachs purchased and ready to go on, along with LC 8wraps for the rear...I don't want too much rake, no more than about 1" or so

how many out there are running the tundra 5100s on the 2nd perch, even tho toytec says not to? and is the ride that much more harsh on 2nd perch compared to the first? when comparing the taco vs tundra 5100s side by side, the bottom perch on tacos is just about level with 2nd perch on tundras...so in theory it should be the almost the same as using tacos on bottom perch...right?

if not 2nd perch, what about if i use 1/4" top plate spacers? i wonder cause ive read many guys on the bottom perch with the eibachs and theyre sitting at 2.5"...i guess alot depends on how much lift the 8wraps will give me which could be as much as around 4.5"....so either 2nd perch no spacers or bottom perch with the spacers...

i should add that i am putting in a 1'' diff drop when all this goes in....i have no bumper winch or anything heavy like that either...just dont want too much rake with the LCs in the rear...so before i put everything in I wanna see what you guys think..thanks guys!

I'm on 2nd perch with Tundra 5100 and eibachs. Can't give you a # right now. But Tacoma 1st perch looks = to Tundra 2nd perch so on 2nd should be good and safe. My ride is good on road and off road. I'd eliminate the top spacer because to me spacers are shit and that's why you got an adjustable shock.

I'm on the third perch on tundra 5100's with tundra TRD coils and toytec top spacers.... still don't feel like Im getting everything I'm supposed to out of it.

yeah some people dont do spacers but I will at the least put a 1/4" spacer on D side for the lean cause without it the D-side will be 3/4" lower and it hate it!....maybe i'll do 2nd perch and call it a day

interesting...the tundra coils are a little shorter than the eibachs...how is the ride? must be a little rough

I have a 10mm OME spacer in the rear. I'm running Toytec superflex coils, which it states on their website that these rear coils should eliminate the driver side lean. But it didn't.

yeah hopefully the 7.75wrap coil on P side will make it level in the rear...i was talking about a 1/4" top plate spacer in the front D side cause of the lean...right now thats what I have up front and also the 10mm rear driver and still a little lean

I think im gonna do 2nd perch and 1/4" top plate

to that end I have an ARB taco bumper and a Superwinch Tigershark 9500 winch. with that weight the ride is nice.

My tundra 5100s are on the 2nd perch + 1/4" top spacer, and they ride nice.

I was planning to use the 3rd perch and no spacer (because spacers are silly), but I forgot to get shorter bolts for the top mounts. So I had to leave the spacers on for the moment.

I haven't installed mine yet but I think I'm going with the 3rd perch because I'm adding a Shrockworks bumper in July. Not sure about a winch yet because the trails I do are pretty easy.

do you have the toytec/eibach coils?
yeah im pretty much gonna do the 2nd perch and 1/4'' top plate spacer on d-side for the lean...

riding above the second perch is not a good idea. when you lift the front you lose down travel. with a 3" lift you might have 2" left of down travel. get a lower spring for the back, the front is not meant to go more than 3" of lift. the other issue is as you preload the spring more, the coils come closer together, and since the tundra coil is wider than the 4runner stock coil, it interferes with the spindle, the first perch actually is the best giving the most clearance for your spindle and ball joint, the second perch is doable however the spring must be aligned perfectly. the third perch is not doable without limit straps and then you will really have no down travel. the coils get so close that the spindle cannot fit between and smacks right into them, if you have yours on the third perch you will feel a hard clunk every time you go over a speed hump. these coil clearance issues are even worse with top plate spacers. the eibach coils that toytec sells are the stock diameter though and do not have these issues.

bottom line is adjust the front based on comfort then adjust the back. the shorter ome coils are not that expensive, and if you put the tundra coils or eibachs on a lower perch will ride much much better than tundra coils on the third perch in order to match the lc coils in the rear. if your concerned with how it looks than using a shorter coil in the back is your best bet, or just get a bodh lift. probably the best setup offroad is running 99 talls on the second perch with lc coils in the back, it gives the most flex.up front while still giving some lift.

Thanks for the insight...I have the Eibachs so I won't have to worry about the spindle interference since they're the same diameter as stock coils...my question as the OP was just to find out who running the Eibach coils with Tundra 5100s were on the 2nd perch....
I am going to do the 2nd perch with a 1/4" top plate spacer on D side to level out the Dside lean..Thanks for all the help

I've been searching for a while and nothing yet. Has anyone run the Tundra 5100s with stock 4Runner springs and at what perch setting? I'm shopping for new struts but not interested in lifting my '02. Maybe in the future, but I'm fine with its current ride height.

I have similar setup 5100/eibachs up front I have mines on first perch lowest setting no spacers at all. With lc 8 wraps in rear do have a slight rake but not much.

Kingin-do u have any Driverside lean up front? any measurements or pics? with OME 880s up front I had about 3/4" lean so i wonder how the eibachs are, maybe theyre actually level.... thanks for the input...

I dont notice any drivers side lean looks pretty even to me. I will take some pictures tomorrow and post up for the rear I left the rubber top cones out, lc coils I used where 7.5wrap pass and 8 wrap drivers/gas tank side.

I chickened out & went with the 2nd perch. LC 8 Wraps in the rear. The rake is good for me & I haven't added any weight to the cargo area yet.

looks great! really nice...i did mine today-same setup but with 1/4" top plate spacer on front driver side....all level...
i have a good amount of noise now...need it aligned thats prob why!have a place who i have free alignments for the year
