1999 Limited, this is what the center console looks like:

(picture is actually of a 2002, but the security thing next to the back window button is the same)

I need to get a key fob or two for this 1999...and would like to buy the correct one the first time...less headaches.

im assuming its just the stock system. Mine has a light but its on the right next to the center lock dif button.

but yeah even if you dont have a keyfob your security system should still work. If you want to test it, open your window, lock your doors then unlock them by reaching inside the truck and manually unlock it, then open the door and see if the horn goes off?

the light must be in a different place for the limited's? Other than that all i can thik of is one of the stereo security lights that keep people from stealing your stereo.

Get the fob with the fcc id HYQ1512Y. My old 99, current 99 and 02 (all limiteds) and a friends 99 SR5 all have the same fcc id I just listed. I'd be surprised if anyone can tell you which security system it is...it's the factory system and I've never seen anything more descriptive than that. I think the HYQ1512Y is a pretty safe bet.

That's what I wanted to hear. Thanks!

that what it is on my gramps f150 and dads tundra, as in can turn on and off the passenger air bag and on is secure?? makes sense to me

Ah, now I see what you are saying. lol. That wasn't the question I was asking. I know that's where the seatbelt warning light is, but I was asking what version of the car security system it was.

I don't think the 4runner has an airbag security indicator besides the seatbelt light.
