Which should I buy???

Which front shock should i buy and most importantly why?? these seem to be the same however one is cheaper then the other.

Bilstein 5100 (d558) BE5-D558-TO or Bilstein 5100 24-188265

both say they can provide the same specs 0 - 2.5 inchs lift.

side question if i were to keep my stock springs (assume they're fine) I would just set the ring at the highest setting and everything would be good? I would get a 2-2.5 inch lift?

I'm too lazy to look up the part numbers, but I am assuming that one is for the Tacoma and one is for the tundra.

Tacoma has three settings and Tundra has 5 settings.

Tundra is said to be valved differently, "stiffer", than the Tacoma.

Both will provided the same lift.

The rest is based on what you want. More options? Better ride? Cheaper?

I find google is better for me, esp if you enter in "3rd gen 4runner" + the topic you need.

As someone who had the Tundra 5100 with Toytec's Eibach spring for a few years and now someone who has the the Tacoma 5100's with that same spring (was advised it was fine), it all depends on what you're looking for.

For me, the Tundra was wayyyy too harsh of a ride, but I also had E rated tires. With C rated tires and the Tacoma springs, it's much better and closer to "normal". It's stiff enough when I need it to be (off-road) but it doesn't re-align my spine when I hit bumps on the highway like the Tundra's did.

Hope that helps. Oh, and I think the spring has quite a bit to do with it too. I also didn't lose any height (even though I was hoping I would drop enough to stop stressing the hell out of my CVs and LBJs) when I changed the suspension because it's more determined by the spring I guess.
