I'm going to be making a custom skid plate for my 03 4runner. It will be made from diamond plate and painted black. I got the idea from chaz, and here's a couple pics of his to show how it'll look.

OK, as for mine, I'm unsure which design to use. The plate will look like his, but the width may be different. The boxes indicate the area to be covered by the plate. Which design do you prefer?
Option 1 (just like pictured above):

Option 2 (making it as wide as my silver trim, and cutting around the tow hooks):

Thanks!

It depends ..

If the main reason is protection.?...go with option 2
If you want protection + style ? ...go with otpion 1

I like the first one...like the one chaz made.

It will be for style, not real concerned with protection. I would go with something other than this if I wanted true protection.

since your gonna invest more than the 35 bux mine cost, why not just get the bullbar with faux skid so you can add aux. lights later

A bull bar is in consideration. It looks like that'll run $200, and that's not counting the lights. I've finally found a place that'll get me the smaller sheet for $40, and that's with them cutting it to the exact specs I need and rounding off the edges for me. I'm not set on doing this skid plate, just trying to narrow down my options.
