Which sliders stick out furthest?

Slee offroad makes a stout full length, non angled slider also.

Someone on this forum made a video review on youtube about it. It looks well made.

Expedition One makes a Slider that sticks out. The wife uses it as a side step.

You have these on your 5th gen 4runner? KDSS or non-KDSS? Their website says these are for the FJ.

I’m in the same boat. Looking to replace the OEM side steps with something beefier but definately a wider platform for standing.

Based on pics it looks like Budsbuilt seems to stick out furthest.

Just saw these in person the other day. They are BEEFY. Budbuilt definitely overbuilds their stuff, so drop them on rocks all day haha. They also stick out quite far as I am considering them for functional steps and sliders. And they have dimpled plating over the whole surface.

Yeah I have a 16' TEP with Shrockworks sliders. Owned the truck for all of 1 month before someone in a 4 door red car put a very large red scuff and dent in my white truck. I was less than pleased to say the least. I honestly never even considered a slider to protect from door dings.

Eyeballing those picts compared to my stock steps, the stock steps seem slightly larger but not by much

BTW, shrockworks confirmed to me their sliders can be ordered with a full top dimpled plate instead of the partial plate that is standard.

I'd love to see a pict of those budbuilt step sliders on a 5th gen to compare. They look like a nice product.

Per a recommendation in another thread i looked into tuger armor steps as well, and they seem to stick out just as far if not further than most sliders and be a great step. I looked into how hard people actually beat on sliders, and i dont want to do that to my brand new 4runner! Maybe in 20 years, but this needs to be a long term vehicle for me.

My primary uses are offroading on trails into the mountains of colorado to go camping, fishing and hunting. The trails are just lightly rough offroading. Need to go slow, but no real crawling over rocks.

I am debating with just going for the thger steps. At 290 shipped from amazon and theyre powdercoated and have great reviews. I could better allocate the leftover money to a quality lift.

I also thought about being door dinged by 4 doors regardless and am thinking about doing the lift first as it may be a better use of the money in priority before spring/summer camping season.

As far as what I've seen in person, the 4x4 labs stick out the furthest. The BAMF sliders also come out pretty far but not nearly as much due to the angle.

Some additional info on this.

Shrockworks confirmed via e-mail their step sliders extend out about 14 3/4" from the frame.

Budbuilt website says their step sliders extend 16" from the frame.

My stock TRD-OR steps extend about 14.5"

Got the Budbuilt bolt on with a kick out and love them. They stick out about as far as the mirrors. I chose not to get the tread, but he does offer them as such. Here are a couple pics for references.

Thanks for the pic. I was looking into Demello too. Its not clear to me if the inner round bar is right under the quarter panel. It looks like is slightly on the outside and may not protect the car's underside. Is it an optical illusion?

Been looking at sliders, and since offroad use for me is limited to hunting/camping, its primary use would be to prevent some door dings if possible.



I have looked at many picturs but it is very hard to tell which ones stick out past the body. Also want them to have treadplates to use as steps as well. Anyone have some that stick out past the body?



So far it looks like shrockworks would be the best for this. I know they wont precent everything, but some is better than none.

The RCIs that I recently added to my 2013 SR5 stick out 4 inches past the lower shoulder of the back door and 2inches past the lower shoulder of the front door.
